Hi all,

G-Man here... after my Dad took me to see Star Wars at Lyme Regis cinema whilst on holiday when I was 5, the year it was released, I have been a HUGE fan.

So last week was the most amazing week... I got the opportunity to see TFA at the UK press screening at the IMAX in Leicester Sq.... then saw it in 3D then 2D on the Friday.

So after I sold all my figures and toys... pretty battered and well played with... about 10 years ago, I want to restart my collection re energised about all things Star Wars.

Advice needed guys and girls please?

I want carded only ... I want a small but perfectly formed collection.... and have about £200-£300 to spend to start me off... my memories are mainly ANH and ESB so want to start with figures from then... what should I do buy a couple of cheaper ones? One cool one? Which one /ones should I go for? Who is selling to start me off? Rather deal direct with people rather than Fleabay.... Kenner or Palitoy? etc...

Help me out please?

G

Hi and welcome to the forum and back to SW collecting!

First thing, if you want to buy carded figures then that will open up a whole range of potential problem due to fakes/reseals etc. Definitely do lots of research, ask lots of questions. That said buying form forum members here is definitely a safer way to start...and if I doubt check the feedback section.

Draw up a list of all the figures you want so you can keep track of what you have and what you still need. Also handy when you post a wants list on a forum!

Start slow, buy some of the cheaper ones first and see how that feel. They are not going to be cheap but you should be able to pick up some reasonable ones from ESB. I'd have thought all the ANH ones will be in the £100's.

If you want to avoid stupid prices and long waits avoid Palitoy. Kenner is more available and in most cases cheaper. Not sure what the price ranges are for Kenner ESB. I know Palitoy start at around £150ish for a nice condition one...All the way up to £18k!!

Welcome bud :D

Your in the right place for advice and to purchase SW mocs/ figures/ ships

It's always best to approach sensibly, as you are doing, and not just jump in and buy the first thing.

What are your childhood memories, which were the first figures you had, etc.

There are lots of for sale threads regularly on here, and there are trusted sellers, such as Iain on here that do great deals, and your assured of bona Fide vintage and no risk of repro.

You will get lots of advice on here, and take a look at the limelight threads, where you might get some ideas

Welcome aboard and best of luck with your collecting :D

Thanks guys... whats the view on Toydreams website? Are there any other trusted sites?

They seem to have quite a good selection and at market-ish prices?

Happier to buy from ppl on here so will keep an eye on the saes threads... I am worried about the whole fake/resealed thing

I'm thinking an ESB Han or Luke to get me started

There were decent and very reliable guys. I'm not entirely sure that they still sell. I'm sure I heard somewhere that they'd stopped.

But you hear all kinds of rumours in this hobby. You could always drop them an email.
