Hi,
I started collecting star wars figures in 1979.
I already had a stormtrooper figure that I had found near my house around 1978.

I have a question for anyone who used to visit the Manchester arndale center in the late 70's or early 80's.
There was a toy shop on the upper floor of the armdale that sold star wars figures.
I can remember when me and my Dad got close to this shop, he would give me a pound note and I would run on ahead to go and choose my figure. By the time my Dad arrived at the shop, I was back outside with my penny change and opening the figure.
I remember I got my Darth Vader figure from here, right after we watched Empire for the first time at a nearby cinema in May 1980.
Nobody I have ever spoken to about this shop remembers it though for some reason.
As I said, it was on the upper floor and it was near Boots which was at the far end of the armdale. If Boots was Infront of you, the shop was the last shop on the right side.
It wasn't zodiac, that was on the ground floor.
I have a memory of the shop being called Holfords (not Halfords) but I was so young and it was so long ago, I could be wrong about the name.
I seem to remember that the Star wars figures were on the wall behind the counter and you had to ask for the figure you wanted.
I remember buying c3po for the 1st time from here, and after opening it outside, I found that the joints wouldn't move, so I took it back and swapped it for another one. I also got Darth Vader s Tie Fighter from here and I think it cost £9, which was a lot of money back then.
I have so many memories of this shop, I would really like to find out more details about it.

Thanks.
