Hi Chaps

Am down to my last 60 cards now and have some proper toughies to get hold of. Just wondered what everyone's thoughts were on the 'hardest' cards to get hold of were. I don't necessarily mean the rarest or even the most expensive - just which one are going to be tough for me to get

I'm talking right across the range here - SW. ESB, ROTJ, POTF and Droids & Ewoks

This would be my guess (in no particular order)

1. Trilogo Madine
2. Trilogo Boba
3. Trilogo Jawa
4. Trilogo Hybrid Hammerhead
5. POTF Anakin
6. POTF Yak Face
7. POTF Yoda
8. POTF AT-AT Driver
9. POTF Nikto
10. Droids Boba Fett
11. SW Boba Fett

Cheers Weaz - I can see why you have so many posts now

I also have a top 11 there !

All changed now :D

I think you have most of the toughies covered. I assume we are excluding Harberts, Palitoys, Toltoys etc?
I will stick my neck out and try and put them in order:

1) TL Madine
2) TL Jawa
3) TL Hammerhead
4) POTF Nikto
5) POTF Yoda (without a cracked bubble)
6) TL Fett
7) POTF Anakin (Without cracked bubble)
8 ) POTF Yak
9) TL Luke Bespin
10) Droids Fett
11) SW Fett

IMO the first four are by far the toughest to find, The rest are out there, just high price tags. When was the last time you saw a TL Madine, or Jawa for sale? I have seen one Madine in the last two/three years and one Jawa. I think if you are serious about obtaining these you need to be proactive- make contact with some of the "big boys". A lot of the above figures arent ever offered on the open market. Oh and as well as luck you will need about £20k to gather those bad boys!!!

I've had 5 of that 11 for sale for a year now
Ok two are now sold.

Not sure on a few of the POTF rankings. No way is Yoda harder to find than Anakin. Yak is fairly common, relatively speaking. Ditto SW Fett. Not checked the Bay recently but that's not a hard card to get hold of, assuming you have the money of course the others require money, AND patience AND luck.

I've had all of these except the Madine, though have been offered several of him. I would say he is probably the toughest to get. He's not mega rare, but is certainly not common and so many are after one that should one turn up it's gone almost instantly.

Jawa is tougher than Boba fett on Trilogo

AT AT driver and Nikto I would put ahead of Yoda and Yak Face. The Hammerhead would be much lower than those POTF.

THE Droids and SW Fett I would have last as well.

OF course this can change if talking about quality

The list all depends on if you are looking at prices or actually ones that are harder to find. I can say that many of the figures from the first 21 are sometimes harder to find on their ESB or ROTJ cardbacks. Also some of the tri-logo figures can be a bitch to find as well.

In my limited experience (in recent years) Hammerhead on the hybrid card is scarcer than all of the POTF- I have only seen two of them in three years- both sold for £1k on ebay.
I have seen 3/4 Niktos, 6-8 Yodas and Anakins and maybe 15-20 Yaks.

VC Jawa should be added. I think they are rare, they get promince when they show up givibg the illusion of quantity.

Han solo small head on SW card. I've also heard that some Han Soli small heads landed on ESB cards but I've never seen one.

Han small head on an ESB is rare indeed - VCJ is pricey but not rare - one (or more) on ebay every week or so.

Cheers for the responses

I am under no illusion that I will need to part with some serious cash if I want to get this little lot into the collection

At them moment I am not focusing on 'backs' or variants (although whether a VC Jawa actually counts as a variant I guess is up for debate)

I think that it is interesting that rarity and price are not always linked. For example, I have seen only one or two Hybrid CCP and Hammerheads come up for sale yet was offered a Hammerhead for £750. I would never get a POTF Yak or Anakin for than price yet have seen a lot more of them up for sale

Are trilogo (hybrid) Hammerhaeds really that hot property these days? I used to have two, and din't pay more than £150 for either from memory.

Yeah, one sold for over a grand last year on ebay. About 1300 i seem to remember. The guy had 2 of them. Think the other one went for about 900.

There are some extra factors in that Hybrid sales data:

The guy that won the first one actually won both, he got out of the game a little while later (6-8 months..) and sold all his trilogos- needless to say he didn't make back all the money he spent on his "wise buys"

Hammerhead is hard to find but condition with Trilogos is a HUGE factor in determining prices and those figures that sold on ebay were both really nice conditioned figures.

You could pick up a c6-c7 Hammerhead for £100-200 yep but a C9 one worth grading will easily spiral out of all control unfortunately :( - I don't think they are worth those prices FWIW and I generally do not buy things based on condition but I know that it when it comes to Trilogos - when its mint it has no price tag, you bid till the other guy stops!

There was chap on RS who had one up for about £250 I think but that wasn't even C5 I would say

Well I suppose times change also, prices have gone up quite a bit especially with this weird popularity increase with Trilogos  Mad people..

Yes who's single handedly responsible for that I wonder ;)
