Hey guys, I thought I would share this one with you all. Over the years I have been collecting I have had soe deals that have taken some time to put together as too Im sure have you.

In November 2010 whilst browsing the internet I found a random forum post where a woman in the US claimed that whilst going through her basement she had found a Red Empire Strikes back six pack set.

Out of interest I contacted her to ask some questions and of course express my interest. At this point I wasnt exactly hopeful but it was worth a shot I thought.

We emailed back and forth over the coming months and eventually struck a deal. Now, 6 months later I actually have the Six pack in my hands and I cant actually believe it!

This means I will be looking to sell the one that I already have as this one is effectively an upgrade for me. I am of course well chuffed with this as it looks great. Its not perfect but is a fantastic piece. I never thought I would have one and now I have 2!

I guess the moral of the story is, if you look hard enough and you are patient you never know what will turn up. I was lucky I guess that the seller was a lovely woman who had no interest in Vintage Star Wars.

Below is a pic of the box. I will post more pics of the set and contents in my limelight shortly.

Congrats Chris that is amazing . That's the real fun in collecting , the hunt, the anticipation.

Love it .

Wow - that is great

The power of the internet works wonders - although I think I am going to have to start browsing randon posts if this is the result ;-)

Well Done Chris! Good detective work 8) I might have to employ you to find some stuff for me

Thanks guys. It has been very rewarding I must say. There were times when I didnt think it would ever happen. Dialogue was very slow at times and I needed to be wary as the deal was done off ebay via paypal. I had to do a little homework and make sure that it was a secure transaction.

The seller was true to her word and the item arrived exactly as described. I now there cannot be many people in the UK with both sets so Im well pleased with these. The pair look great together and Im now thinking of getting a special display case made for them. :D

Funds are too tight to mention right now though.

Well done Chris, great score! I'm guessing everything inside is still sealed?

Did you initiate this when you didn't have your other red box yet?

Nice one Chris and yep patience is the key ! There really is nothing smart about overpaying to own toys IMO, wait for the bargains and the deals and a collection not only builds itself but it has far better stories attached to it than "OH YEAH I BOUGHT THIS FOR $$$ MORE THAN ITS ACTUALLY WORTH FROM BRIANS TOYS!"

Wow Chris- great story dude- the six pack looks in great condition mate- are the figures present and sealed in their baggies? I didn't realise the red six pack was a tough one to find- Is it USA only?
Great pick up Chris

Thanks guys: To answer a few questions

I was in dialogue with the seller of this six pack before I bought the one from Jim. I decided to buy Jim's one because I wasnt sure if this deal would come through or not and I always wanted to have both.

All the figures in my Six Pack are sealed with the exception of C-3PO whose tape has perished unfortunately. I will endeavour to replace this in due course.

In my opinion, the Red Six Pack is extremely difficult to track down. It was only available in the US and unlike many multipacks it was actually available on store shelves for a relatively short period in 1980. I personally have never seen any other red six packs come up for sale apart from the 2 I have. The yellow set is also very hard to track down but seems to be slightly easier to track down.

A little info is available in the Kellerman book on the Six Packs including guide prices of $800-1200 for the red version. Obviously the first edition of the Kellerman book is 8 years old now so with all things, the prices should be taken with a pinch of salt.
