I was sorting through the stuff under our bed the other day to remind myself what Star Wars stuff I have under there and I came across a number of items from my childhood. To be honest not that much survived and I have long since sold my Star Wars Collection like many of us in a garage sale.
But a few bits and pieces survived mainly from my later childhood like my Hornsby trainset and boxed Micro Machines. They're still tucked away in my folks' loft. But a few pieces survived from earlier childhood like my Robinsons Sporting Records Set, a Tron Pop-up book won in a Daily Mirror Colouring Competition, and my favourite - a full set of Dandy Football Bubblegum Cards from the 1986 World Cup.
I know a few of you on here are footie fans so I thought you might be interested to see them. I vaguely remember the 1982 World Cup but by the time the '86 World Cup came round in Mexico I was footie mad and remember amongst other things the Mexican wave, the infamous Maradonna hand of God goal and his awesome solo effort. My favourite player was Zico and later when I started work got a retro yellow shirt with his face emblazoned on it. The tournaments were so exciting back then and even England played well. I love the '86 and '90 World Cups and Euro 88 sandwiched in between with that awesome Van Basten goal.
Anyway here are some pics if you're interested.
