Finishing my collection

Hi all and thanks for the, decided to finish my 77-85 collection i started a long long time ago...any tipsmor advice, luckily i have some key pieces, ie, palitoy deathstar, yak face and r2d2 with saber from when i was a youngling... however the death star is missing a few bits and bobs, ie trash compactor roof/level that the chute goes into the, the canopy and the guns....which aint to bad really, and although tatty i do have the box,,,, this was my present from my sister in 1986 5 quid from the free ads section of the paper, a
so does any body else get frustrated by toy dealers stripping figures and selling off each individual bit

Great picture, yer I bought a massive lot out of the paper ads in the early 90's when I started collecting again. I think it was a loose y-wing, falcon loads of rigs and about 50 figures for £20. What a bargain you got although a fiver in the mid 80's seemed like £50 now!
I'v e got 2 complete boxed DS's but payed around £450 pound combined at different times in the noughties. I've always been going to sell the slightly weaker of the two but just can't seem to bring myself to do it! Definitely the greatest Star Wars accessory, even better than my Falcon which I got as an official present back in 1981.

Awesome picture. Newspaper ads were amazing in the 90s for star wars stuff. Even to this day I have a little look to see if there is anything but never have much luck.
It is pretty annoying when sellers sell individual parts. But then ive been after individual accessories before and its a pain in the arse if the only ones to be found are ones being sold with the figure. If you are patient enough, anything you are looking for will turn up eventually.
Be sure to check the sales section here, as you can get some awesome pieces from honest trustworthy sellers. Iain (itfcian) has made all of our collections blossom I think so if there is anything in particular you are after figure wise, might be a good idea to ask him.
