Finally dug out and uploaded a pic of me xmas 88

This was me christmas day 1988, i was 6 years old eating a nice bowl of cornflakes.

A big grin on my face!

I'd just opened the jabba playset and ewok glider, rodimus prime, bravestarr and thunderpunch he-man.

Were the star wars items shop bought must have been the last of the jedi range in toy shops in 88, although I did still find some boxed star wars stuff in a market shop in the early 90's couple of at as's and a slave one but that was it after that.

yes these were bought from a local model shop near me in harrow, im pretty sure.

i think later on in 1989 from the same shop i got the vehicle matenance and ast-5 mini rigs but by then that was all that was left, figures were long gone.

i dont ever remember that shop getting any power of the force stuff or last 17 figures.

hehe. that behind my head is the jabba playset box.

if you look by the fireplace there is a chess peice and behind that was a weird transformer that turned into a mammoth/elephant, was pretty cool also.

spot the bt phonecard on the table, those were the days "i cant speak for long, ive only got 3 units left"

In 88 your were into Star Wars quite late on, mind you, only a year later and I started collecting so maybe you were ahead of the game!

Lovely memories with these old photos. I am amazed you got Star Wars for Crimbo in 88 considering the lines were well and truly over by then.

88 does seem quite late. By the time this pic was taken I had been given hand me downs from my brother which were chewy, yoda, darth and c3po. I remember buying from the shops han hoth, leia boush, chief chirpa, Teebo, weequay and Nikto which would've been 86/87.

There was not much about after this xmas though, we did see a rebel transporter in a sweet shop in Queen's Park but it wasn't my birthday or Christmas so my dad didn't budge on me asking for it.

From then on 90-94 I was dragged around car boot sales and antique fairs with my dad (he collected stone bed warmers) and brought pretty much everything then.

Managed to get almost everything apart from an at-at and a few figures, I even found last 17 figures just by guessing that they were Star Wars but never knew until later.
