Here are the available variants if you're interested in variant collecting. I have managed to collect the main Kenner variants but have not gone for the Ledy, Poch, Glasslite and Top Toys.

Family I - Unitoy
Uni Toys produced the MADE IN HONG KONG variant. The figure came with the v1 Bowcaster off of TIG (M2 off of Variant Villain) which comes in a dark grey and solid blue variant amongst others.

Figures were imported by Poch to produce the dark brown pouch, black pouch / unpainted circle and black pouch / painted circle variants (though there is some debate as to whether the black pouch variants are indeed Spanish).

Two moulds were later sent to PBP to produce the smooth deleted no coo and floating coo variants.

L-R: PBP; Fam I Unitoy MIHK; PBP

Family II - Kader
The Kader coo can be identified by the small copyright symbol and the space between HONG and KONG. The figure comes paired with a v3 Bowcaster off of TIG (M1 on VV). Only a HONG KONG version of the Kader figure was produced in two sub-variant moulds.

L: Fam II Kader; R: Fam VI Kader (Glasslite counterpart)

Family III - Smile
The Smile figure can be identified by the large copyright symbol and no space between HONGKONG. The figure comes paired with a v2 Bowcaster off of TIG (M3 and M4 on VV). Early figures can be found with the M4 blaster, while later ones with the M3 blaster. The figure was later scarred for production in the European market.

Family IV - Taiwan
The MADE IN TAIWAN figure can be found with a unique Bowcaster not identified on TIG but listed as M5 on VV.

Family V - Smile / Lili Ledy
This Chewbacca variant is found as a no coo variant with small text. There is no corresponding HONG KONG variant. It was made in the Smile factory and found on card backs. It comes with a M2 blaster off of TIG (M4 blaster off of VV).

The moulds were later sent to Lili Ledy to produce the LL counterpart figure. The most notable difference between the two variants is the darker brown colour of the figure. It comes with a v5 Bowcaster off of TIG which is shot in a lighter matt black colour.

Family VI - Kader / Glasslite
This particular Chewbacca figure produced in the Kader factory is notable for its L.F.L. 1977 as opposed to the more usual G.M.F.G.I. 1977 one. It is often known as the POTF variant being found on the POTF cards (though it is prevalent in the U.K. suggesting it might be found on some trilogo). The paint on this figure is extremely fragile for some reason and the white of the mouth and bandolier straps can easily fall off if handled incorrectly or cleaned. It comes with a v3 Bowcaster off of TIG (M1 off of VV).

The moulds were later sent to Glasslite. This figure is identified by its light brown appearance and unpainted pouch. It has a unique Bowcaster.

Family VII - Top Toys
The Top Toys figure has a unique sculpt and rifle.

Here is the excellent coo guide created by Wolff Lipinsky on the current Variant Villains website, due for a major update later this year.
