I think that is how a lot of us in the U.S. are going to get to see it as well. It opened last weekend in only 8 cities. They are supposed to add more cities if it does well. If there was a theatre a couple hours away from me I would probably make the trip. I've been looking forward to this movie ever since I caught some glimpses of it at CIV. I hope it ends up being worth the wait with all the set backs it has had.

I thought I'd heard about that film somewhere before. What's happened to delay it?

From what I understand all of the delays have been the Weinstein Company which is the studio putting it out. The original idea was that one of the group of friends has cancer and will not live to see Episode 1, so they decided to go on a road trip to Skywalker ranch to steal a copy of the movie before it is released.

Supposedly in test screenings with young teen audiences the cancer plot didn't seem to work very well, so the movie was delayed for some reshoots to remove that element of the story. The reshoots didn't happen until Late 2007 and were not done by the original director. In that time many Star Wars fans started a petition saying they wanted the original cancer plot. The Weinsteins came out and said that both versions would be on DVD, but the theatrical release would have it removed. This was when the movie was supposed to have a release date of last Novemeber. From what I have read now the cancer plot is actually in the theatrical release.

It seems like they were trying to make the movie appeal to more than just Star Wars fans and that is where the delays started. I don't think they believe the movie will be successful, so that is why the limited 8 city release. I just hope I finally get to see the movie sometime this year finally.
