Ever wanted a decent DT saber replica set?

This is not good news. I understand the appeal to some to want a replica when they can't afford an original, but just because it looks like an original doesn't make it an original. I wish this guy would have done the responsible thing like he originally said he was going to by making them like this. It would still display the same, but it would be easy to not pass off as a vintage DT saber.

Guys guys guys!

Hows about a gathering of all the facts before slinging your mud around!

VERY un-forum like.

From the Q and A:

Q : Are the 'All new for 2011' DT Sabers marked as reproduction in any way?

A : Of course! One cannot make a reproduction that would fool even the experts without marking them in some way. The 'All new for 2011' DT Sabers are discretely engraved with the letters 'ReV' (for ReValveiT) on the inside of the hilt.

:)

Ah, that changes things a bit. Those letters can still be sanded off by those with bad intentions though.

I think it may still be visible with a magnifying glass that it had be sanded off. It'd be slightly rough, but I guess it all depends on how big these engravings are and how deep they are engraved.

Either way, this is good news! I can now buy a set without feeling guilty! :D

I've never liked the "well i can't afford a real one so i'm gonna buy a repro one" it's not real! What's the point.? You still don't own one!.
It's a bit like buying a blow up woman cos you can't make it with the real ones. or taking your ford escort into a body specialist and asking them to make it look like a ferrari.Completely pointless.

Personally it will just be for display purposes, so whether it is real or not doesn't bother me so much.

According to the website the new ones were announced on the 8th of this month. So yeah I guess you bought the older ones if you bought them on the 2nd.

Edit: How much did you pay for them? the old ones were £25 iirc. The new ones are £30.

I think it was 26.99 free postage.Im not worried ither way really pleased to have a more authentic looking set for my display.
