Saw this in the news today and it got me thinking:

http://www.bbc.co.uk/news/uk-england-30096820

Now obviously I don't want to start a sexism war, but this really stinks in my opinion. A woman murders her children - must have been mentally ill, spared jail, and no mention of going to jail after she recovers. A man kills a child - must be a paedophile, life in prison!

Now I don't doubt for a second that she regrets it or was having mental issues at the time, but couldn't you say that about most murderers? Apart from your Fred West's surely most people that commit murder have some kind of mental issue and/or sense of remorse afterwards?

I can't help but think the verdict and sentence would have been somewhat different if it was the father who killed his children.

You kill your own children or others for that matter, then IMHO public stoning should be the minimum sentence. I know I am most likely in the minority, but when it comes to children the infirm or the elderly, then the scum should pay & pay with a life debt,be it man or woman.

I'm in your minority Frank :x

Me too!

IMO we should bring back Capital Punishment.

Murder is murder simple.

I would rather they were locked away, never to see the light of day, spend the rest of their lives incarcerated with a monotonous boring routine.
Lock em up throw away the key and forget about them. Taking their lives is simple and easy and there is no time for them to have remorse ( wether they show it or not) the rest of their natural lives behind bars.

Taking their life is too easy, although I do not condone trying to rehabilitate them back into society, giving them privileges a for good behaviour etc, but lock them away from society and forget em.

Phew, thought it was just me! Hospital for killing three children, are you ****ing kidding me!? Regardless of whether they're your own or not, that's got to be a life sentence no matter what the background story.

Just saw on the news that they're now trying to pin the responsibility on social services as usual

Stop wasting my tax money by keeping these scum bags locked away. Line them up against a wall, put a bullet in their head, and put them in a big hole. It takes more money to lock one of these ****ers up, than I earn.

Better still, make them stand one in front of the other, and save on bullets!

Can't agree on capital punishment for murders. There have been too many miscarriages of justice for that to be allowed. We all think most of them date back to the 80's or 90's etc and policing is different now. But does anyone really think with all the cut backs there have been that we don't still get people being convicted of crimes they didn't commit?
With capital punishment you can't exactly dig the person up and perform CPR to revive them 10 years after they were killed! A big fat pay out for someone who served a sentence for a crime they didn't commit (got the "A-team" theme tune going through my head now) is one thing, but how do you compensate someone for being killed?

Yes, I know the victims and their families suffer as well, but two wrongs don't make a right.
I'm all for locking the criminals up for life, and certainly support making prison a bit more of a punishment and less of a ****ing holiday camp, but you can't start killing people. Jesus, I sound like a liberal

Having had some experience of Social Services, I can honestly say I have NEVER EVER in my life, met a more incompetent, pedantic bunch of jobsworths who lack even the most basic understanding of what the implications of their latest brainwaves will be. And, to be brutally honest, most don't give a ****!
I genuinely can not speak lowly enough of them. They are that bad.

You're probably right mate, but the idea that you can blame anybody but the person that pulled the trigger doesn't sit right with me. By all means have social services as a backup, but they shouldn't be relied on IMO.

Fook I come on here to look at old plastic toys and get away from everything else thats too heavy in everyday life.....

I've watched countless of Murderers stories on You Tube (find them fascinating to watch and listen to) and believe me female killers don't get off lightly just because of their sex. There have been some horrendous crimes committed by both women and even some girls. Yes girls as young as 12/13 have committed murder and been locked up for a considerable time. Most don't have any remorse or regret afterwards, or those who do tend to play the sympathy card to get off with a lighter sentence only to commit a similar crime in years to come, in other words they are Psychopaths who by their very nature have little or no feelings to others or how their actions can hurt others.

I agree she shouldn't be allowed to use Social Services an excuse, but if they were involved, I'll bet both my nads that they ****ed things up even more. Like bankers, they get away with it every single time.

If it was "an eye for an eye" or a punishment beating for a punishment beating, half our country would be blind/in hospital.

Gotta say. That may not be a bad thing.
