Can you remember how crazy it was back in 1999?

Its been 15 years since Episode 1 dominated toys, games, food, soap, alarm clocks etc......

And now we have Episode VII.

Will it be as crazy again?

Episode I was the most hyped film ever.

Will fans be still be burnt from the prequels or will new media's drive the insanity even higher

Which will be more insane?

With the old actors returning and the power of Disney to shove it down your throat even worse the Lucas.......It is going to get crazy really soon.

At least that makes me one of the hipster cool kids again. :D

Looking back i wish I had never bought any Ep.1 crap. The foolishness

Kind of weird that there are no children in that vid clip. Just adults and a few teenagers parting with their hard earned for stuff that 15 years on is worthless. Might as well have been played with by actual children

Massive, yes!
But will the films be any better than those monstrosities that were episodes 1-3?
Metaclorians, Jar-jar binks, Vader screaming like a girl, Jake Lloyd, Hayden Christensen, Natalie Portman NOT getting her tits out, the list goes on and on!

Always the new thing get more hype i guess.
Expectancy for Ep I was huge indeed. Ep VII will be no less, no matter how good or bad it turns out.

Do you remember how many times you went to the movie theatre to see Ep I, before stating you didn´t like it? How many of us own the DVDs and pieces of merchandise?

Particularly I remember those days with a lot of fondness. Despite the movie itself, they were very fun and made a lot of friends. I´m sure Ep VII will bring similar times if not better.

Remember those were the creations of an independent film maker who gave himself a monster budget and made the film he wanted to make, then due to his power and influence everyone had to buy into it and tell him he was great. He proved how dangerous that could be, losing the charm of the OT. Reminds me of those managers I've worked for who wouldn't take advice or critique and ended up burning.

Like a podperson having his essence removed by a skeksis, they will not allow the film to be **** because they've squeezed everything they can out of him then thrown him out (George.. you go there and you can be a 'consultant', free cakes and unlimited coffee.. we'll let you know though.. yeah.. thanks, go spend your billions). They know what sells and its Star Wars OT. Listen to the market talk and Disney are pushing the OT back out there, first with ESB related cool and then apparently around xmas, ROTJ.. with jabbas, bobas, the main cast. So they can inform the new generation just how amazing it all was. Then I guess we'll see the OT back in the cinema with a bit of 80s spit and polish (I like some of the subtle changes, just not the moronic delivery of stuff like the Jabba scene in SW, or the Han scene )

The hype will be huge, but probably thankfully, the trepidation by our generation after the Prequels will result in less expectation. Whatever happens, Disney will become ****ing richer..

Pretty much al of it...but all sold now. Every freakin crisp packet included the illusive tomato flavour (Im not taking the piss) :p

The films will obviously be better than the prequels. There literally is no way they could be worse. But the hype and hysteria, anticipation and excitement just won't be a match. Sorry, but it won't. Not that it won't be huge, of course it will but as big- no. It's a little bit of been there done that and once bitten twice shy. People, including most of us, are looking forward to them but with a pinch (or a bucketful) of cynical caution.
Another important element is a lot of those who were sick with excitement of Ep 1 being made, me included, were in their 20s and it was something they didn't even know they would ever get to see. ANOTHER STAR WARS!!! I couldn't believe it. It was going to be the greatest thing of all time!!! 8) :D

Of course, it wasn't, it sucked. But that's not the point. We're all a bit/a lot older now and a little wiser. I don't think anyone on this forum can honestly say they are as excited about episode VII as they were Episode 1. I won't believe them if they claim to be. :p

Just my feeling on it.

When the OT special editions came out it was 20 years since the original release and all us fans got really excited about seeing them back up on the big screen again. That set us all up for the prequels (the fools we were), and I must admit I saw Ep 1 about 4 times (but only 2 & 3 once each), and still own the VHS and DVD along with some lego and the odd toy.

Fast forward to now and it's been 15 years since Ep 1 so it stands to reason that some of those children who grew up with Ep 1 (and probably enjoyed it for what it is), are probably eager to see some more. Also you have all the Clone Wars animated series fans (and Rebels to come), who are thinking the new trilogy will feel closer to the pace of that fairly top notch series as well as the new generation of children and all of us OT fans at least not expecting things to be quite as bad as Ep 1-3.

It feels to me that there's a good chance that the hype is going to be huge for these next instalments and by using some of the OT characters in them, it feels like all the bases have been covered to make this possibly an even bigger event than 1-3.

I even found myself watching The Phantom Menace last weekend as I felt the need to see it and wanted to see how bad it really was........It's bad but I did watch The Phantom Edit version of it which is at least bearable in places, although I still don't understand why George picked that child actor to play Anakin, there must have been someone else better he could have chosen!? ( I bet in 10 years time it'll come out that a number of respected actors also went for that role and were turned away).

I own the dvds but only the kids watch them.

Yes I own a few toys but massively regret the purchases. Can't shift the damn things.

Probably get suckered into the whole thing again.
