has anyone had experiance with them computers they plug your car in to ,to find problems and how good are they .want to get car sorted and its gonna cost me £50 for this, but bloke at local garage says they are a waste of time yet he cant seem to find problem and he doesnt have one of these computers .i also think the only way he can find out whats wrong is by trial and error ,he seems a bit old school when it comes to new engines

They can only find a fault when the light is on jabba. I had a lot off problems with it on a old P reg vectra. Usually when you take it in the light is not on

Had a prob with my peugeot and the engine management light came on took it to garage and as if by magic they fixed it pretty quickly.

if its not electronic the system would not know if its gone wrong or not.

when i get to 75 ish it comes on and it seems to loose a bit of power .but it then stays on till i turn engine off ,they said its this valve which are about £80 .something is dripping as well which may be diesel but the bloke at local garage cant seem to see where its coming from .whats puzzling me is nothing seems to be going down oil/water etc

On my old vectra it came on just when the engine was warm jabba. There was a bit in loss off power. When the engine was ideling at junction you would have to keep the engine revs up. Not let them drop below 1000 revs. It would stall then. I had it in at the vauxhall garage a few times. They struggeled to find the fault. In the end i had to change the crank shaft sensor and the cam shaft sensor

so would you recommend putting it on one of the computers .

They pretty much have you by the short and curlies, modern engines are full of managed parts that can be viewed by the console, if it does have a major problem the computer is the best place to find it.

But to be honest, the vast majority of the time its just fuse faults or connection faults that bring on the lights that make you panick, but you still get charged for the inspection.

Theres not much you can do. unless you get a mate in the trade who will do it cheap

Jabba i think you would need to. If you want to find the fault. Make sure the engine is warm when you take it to them. If the light is not on when you take it to them. They cant find the fault

There is no need for half off what the engine managment does. Just more to go wrong.

gonna get it on computer and hopefully get it sorted then i can get name and number slapped on side and hopefully get some more business
