strange subject i know, but being a postman you tend to think about anything when your delivering.

i was wondering if anyone else has thought that maybe a day will ever come when there will no more vintage star wars to collect. i mean by more and more collectors appearing and holding onto stuff, deterioration of products, stuff being used for customs etc??

the question is what would everyone do if that day did come in our lifetime??? NO MORE STARWARS!!!! NNNNNOOO!!!!!

Nah.... One day every one of us will be dead. Think about it.

Somewhere, right now, a Star Wars fan is drawing his last breath or about to do something stupid around the house - possibly involving a fork and a power socket. Once his estate is settled, things will be sold, and while he'd never have parted with his Vlix, or his mint Blue Snag, you can bet that his widow/parents whoever will not feel the same way.

Someone might have built up a reasonable collection but if only he knows the value then it will end up at a boot sale or on eBay and will be broken up.

On top of that people sell treasured possessions because kids need shoes, wives threaten to leave, the crack-dealer wants his money, chemotherapy bills are mounting whatever.

Don't delight in the pain of the guys who give up their dreams, just give them a good a home until you pop your own clogs. Every antique that has ever been sold meant something to someone once. But you can't take it with you. It's the circle of life, etc.

I will of course haunt anyone not appreciating my dear, dear Yakfaces...

what if a film comes out that the kids take to more then star wars ,
and it all starts again and star wars just becomes forgotton
its got to happen sooner or later

with all the consoles and technology kids today arent interested in star wars figures much so whats it gonna be like in 10 years

Then maybe the prices would come down and i could own them all....all mine...mine i tell you!!

It's up to all of you with children to educate the next generation of young Jedis on the ways of the force to ensure Star Wars collecting will never end.

The tv series will be up and running within the next couple of years that will renew interest again. :D :D

hope its better then the new films

It's unlikely. George Lucas has been whacking off into a big Scrooge McDuck-style vat of money for years now - utterly oblivious as to what's feeding his fortune. If he cares a molecule of shite about the quality of anything he does now, I'm Jar-Jar F*cking Binks. At least he won't be directing. That's a blessing. Go home, George, it's over. It's dead now.

Can't wait for Indy IV

that's great to see spoons 8)

must buy a loose set at some point for the same purpose.

my kids had the vintage out this weekend so I thought I'd bump this old thread up. My daughter must be about four in the photo above and now is 10 and still loves her Star Wars.

The other two are pretty keen too :)

Awesome Spoons. My son loves playing with my stuff and is very careful. It's like he knows how much they really mean to me. Would never leave him alone with them though!
Saying that he gets bored after about 10 mins or so.

Great pics - and an interesting topic - shows what a deep thinker Chris is, even all those years ago !

Great pics

As with anything in life we are merely custodians of our Star Wars little pieces of history, and they will pass on within the family, when we pop our clogs, or sold off.

Unless we go back to the practice of being burned with our possessions :?

So these little pieces of plastic heaven will outlive us and give joy to others.

In its own little way this forum is spreading the word, new members joining the ranks regularly, and staying ...being bitten by the bug

So I don't think the originals will ever lose their allure :D

Thanks guys, and don't worry I don't let them play with my collection. These are all there to be played with, a few beaters, modern and repro card backdrops, but they take good care all the same.

What concerns me is what happens when we run out of collectors?

Most of us grew up with star wars and played with it as kids. In 25-30 years time we'll all be selling it to fund our retirements.

Will there be enough new blood to buy it all?

Great pics Spoons :) my son also has fun playing with my old "beater" figures, but can't understand why he wasn't allowed to play with my Pali Death Star

As for the world running out of collectors - with all the movies Disney has planned for the coming years, I think the hobby is only going to grow.

Totally agree Rob - Disney just made sure these bits of plastic are never going out of style.
