So without this being too much of a morbid thread... What are peoples "end of an era" celebrity?
So you wake up one morning, turn on the news and so-and-so has died.

For me, it's Harrison Ford. He has always been my hero from a early age.

well the end for great 80s pop did end when we lost michael jackson, prince, david bowie and george michael. Most of the big guys from the cool 80s is gone.

Now we have lost r2-d2 and leia. When the actors playing solo, luke c-3po and chewbacca dies then I would say the old star wars era is death
but we will never forget them. I still hope we will have those guys for a long time :D

It's a morbid thought for sure!

When we were kids it wasn't even something you thought about but as the years go on then you start to notice the people you looked up to aren't there anymore.

For me one of the hardest 'celebrity' deaths before Carrie was Gary Speed as he was only a few years older than me - I think those are the ones that are going to hit home the hardest

But then everyone seems to be some sort of celebrity these days - I don't think that there are many icons left

Gary Speed was a shocker and even worse when you look into it. Especially with the recent **** that has come out from the FA.

For me though LIFE will never be the same when Sir David Attenborough leaves us. :|

Twice I got that feeling of shock when someone i don't know but idolise passes.
Last year with Carrie.
In 2009 my favourite guitarist, Ron Asheton, from the greatest rock band of all time, The Stooges, passed away.

Already happened for me; Prince's passing still upsets me now... As discussed at length at the time, a true musical hero of mine (and not necessarily the taste of all), that I grew up with through the 80's at school, was the backing track to my GCSE's and A'levels and eventually I wrote my university thesis about him and his influence on those that walked in his footsteps. I listened to and saw him live at almost all the various stages of his career, this past year has been a very retrospective one in light of that era coming to an end, but also a new dawn of listening to new artists breaking through.
