Not being an ebayer not au fait with the pros and cons

If you make a purchase and it states delivery 9 th Feb to 14th Feb if I purchased by PayPal ( got an email from eBay saying something like they have contacted the seller to send my item - which I presume is robot driven)
Is it normal practice for the seller not to send any messages about dispatching? I purchased the item on Weds just gone.
As I said I'm not an ebayer somdont know the form

Agreed, it's a mix. In my experience most sellers don't send a message specifically saying that they've posted the item, but a significant minority of them do. And for those that don't, providing they mark the item as 'dispatched' on eBay, you should get an automatic eBay email advising you of the dispatch.

I think it's only basic courtesy to message your buyers to say that you've sent their purchase, but sadly manners are sometimes hard to come by, even though they're free ;-)

I always do, but rarely get them from sellers.
Ditto, it depends on who you are dealing with, if it's an individual you are more likely too, but a "eBay shop" that sells lots you probably won't.
As already mentioned Michael, don't fret et as you are covered, that's one good thing about eBay.
Good luck, I'm sure your item will arrive.

Yeah more than 95% in my experience don't message, i'm the same myself but when i'm sending something of fairly high value like £100 or more, then I let my buyer know out of courtesy when it's been shipped and give them the estimated delivery date to let them know roughly when they will need to be in to sign for it.
