sold a dvd box set. auction stated 2nd class recorded (obviously too protect myself from the i didnt recieve my item when they did scenario)
buyer sent me this message :
Hello,

I know that the item is sent signed for but is there any chance you can just send it normal second class no sign? I work alot and will miss the delivery! Also means that I can't get to the pick up point too as I work through the opening times!

ive neved had this request before on ebay! what would you guys do, can i sent item tracked without being signed for?
should i offer the item to the next bidder?
cheers
chris

dont do it! simple.

it sounds dodgy, maybe offer to have it sent to his local collect+ point for him to pick up if he isnt going to be in?

Trouble with eBay it is makes everyone very suspicious - personally I would give the guy the benefit of the doubt but make him aware that you are going but his wishes and that he has no cover if it gets lost - you may still lose out if he did claim but you would have a pretty good case

How much is it worth ?

Most of us work when the Post Office is open, so can't always be at home when items arrive.

Surely he can pick up the item on a Saturday morning possibly?

Also in my experience I've had non signed for items waiting for me at the PO because they won't fit through my letter box and postie has popped a little red card through the door.

Personally I would still send recorded signed for - the buyer knew the postage terms but chose to ignore them or at least should have contacted you before deciding to bid/buy.

I would say stick to your guns. Ebay's logic is a bit skewed to say the least and you can bet if the buyer decides to be an arse they will side with him. Unfortunately it's the rotten 5% that ruin it for the rest of us honest folk.

As said above I wouldn't risk it, I'm super paranoid about Ebay these days but that's only due to the amount of horror stories I've read since joining the forums.

If he's not home to sign for delivery then he has the option to collect from the PO at least that's what happens here if no one is home at time of delivery. I work from home and still miss items from time to time just means I need to pick it up at a later date.

Stick to your guns, he knew the postage details before bidding.

all sorted now lol! but i will stick my too my guns in future if this happens again as i stated what the postage conditions in the auction.....
anyway when i looked at the postage address on the invoice it was 2 miles down the road from my house...small world hey...so i hand delivered it my self on the way back from work. saved my self money on postage which i still got the money for

Tell him if he cancels the sale and sends you money via paypal gift then you'll do it.
