Hi,

The other day I put a watch on a 70's Corgi Batmobile GS3 set and before it ended it suddenly disappeared from the listings. When I click on the item from my email account (under ending soon), it tells me the listing has been removed. Also the item isn't even in my ebay watch list so it seems to have vanished. My best guess was that it was still there at least an hour before the auction end with several bids on it and I'm sure that you can't end an item if there's less than 12 hours to go on it.

Has anyone else ever come across this type of thing? Maybe it was eaten by their dog before the end or the cynical side of me wonders if it was to attract people to their other listings as they didn't have anything else like it listed other than 1000's of pot plants!

If an item has bids with less than 12 hours then the seller can end the listing by selling to the highest bidder. By doing this they are potentialy risking losing out on further bids but it is more than likely that the highest bidder has possibly paid some additional funds on top. So they've done a deal behind closed doors :)

Other than that im pretty sure they cant end the listing :?:

Thanks for that, I never realised you could do that although I'm surprised the listing completely disappeared and even from my watch list. Never mind, someone probably got lucky.

Yeah that one is a mystery :? If they sold to the highest bidder i dont see why it would disappear from your list, cant explain that one :?:

Bloody ebay though, they make up the rules as they go along

eBay may have removed the listing. I can't ever remembering listings disappearing completely if ended early and sold privately.

That's what I'm wondering, maybe it was a dodgy listing although it's a bit weird that it was listed for days and only got pulled in the last hour of Auction. I did slightly have my doubts about it as the box looked very crisp and had what looked like a black bat sign on it that should have been blue. I thought it might be the light as although the picture was fairly clear there weren't any closeups of it (always a slightly iffy sign). That said though the seller had sold a lot (well of plants anyway), and stated that there was a 9 day returns policy so it wouldn't have been a problem to get refunded by paypal if there was a problem. It's just a shame I didn't get to see how much it went for if it did sell.

Anyway, I know it's not SW but thought it was worth mentioning incase it's a new tactic I don't know about to get people to look at their site.

Yeah definitely been removed by ebay
Probanly due to a beach of practice or policy on the sellers part which could be a number of things.
If the seller had simply ended the auction early then you'd still be able to see it.
