Hey all, hope you had a good seasonal drinking holiday,,, or seasonal not drinking. :D

I am just back from Slovenia where my girlfriend is from, reallly beautiful place etc, but i had a few days to roam around the capital Ljubljana where i was browsin skateshops and other stuff.

I hit up one comic store to satify the geek in me, and i noticed that there was almost no star wars or even anything to do with the origional films.
So i asked at a party if anyone remembers the films or toys.
Everyone knew the movies but almost none remember the toys growing up in what used to be Yugoslavia.

One guy said he knew that a rich kid down the street had some but he reckon his dad travelled.
Obviously the eastern bloc communist countries still lay behind the iron curtain during the origional trilogy so only really the movies got in.
And toys would have constituted imports from the capitalist pigs

But Hungary had bootlegs and so did poland,, i am wondering if here were any yugoslavian bootlegs.??

or did SW just skip this country.? Marshall tito was hated buy the communists and distrusted by the west ? is it possible that neither the communist bloc bootlegs or the western toys got in there?

The main reason i am asking is i spend a good chunk of time there and i might go searching at toy fairs and charity shops etc,, they are a nation that loves nostalgic trinket shops.

any ideas,, hersay or conjecture??

I'd agree with you Steve and say that SW did skip the country. I spent a bit of time in Croatia about 3 years ago and although I never went to Zagreb I never saw a single SW item.

:| :| ah well hungary is only a short drive from the capital.
might try that.
but as the bootlegs dont really interest me , if i get some i will be swopping em for loose and vehicles :)

:p cool ganja,, i never collect because something is worth something or rare, i collect cause the toys look cool or remind me of being a kid.
So bootlegs arent my thing, but if i do come across any on my travels i will pick em up and give em to someone who will appreciate em.
