Early Bird Luke Skywalker w/o Double Telescoping Lightsaber?

I have an early 1977 early bird set. It has Chewbacca with the green hued crossbow. The Luke Skywalker I have doesn't have a double telescoping light saber. Did they release an early bird Luke Skywalker without a double telescoping lightsaber?

Yes, it was the slightly later iteration of the EB set. It also features a wider product catalog.
