Earliest SW UK Toy Fair and Cinema release 1978 ?

And here's the YouTube link. It's full on vintage Star Wars from 3 minutes and 25 seconds in....

Nice one, I've seen some stills from that action figure display before but never this footage. It does make you wonder if any of those stands survived and made it into someone's collection. Also does that Stormtrooper have black rubber gloves on with some sort of white plastic lump glued to it?

Top vid yerr just let your kids loose with the lighter fluid to refuel the rocket in your front room Christmas morning, God bless the 70's  love the stormtrooper with the x-wing and at a time before battle damage stickers :) :)

Great video.Actually for me apart from SW, the nostalgic childhood memories which are strong is the somersaulting gorilla.

A small supermarket/post office which I often went to with my mum,had a smaller version in the window and I used to love watching it and seeing it flip. That transported me right back to the eighties and being about five years old, buying half a penny sweets.

Great - that's my vid. i was wondering when someone would enjoy it.

I noticed that the original archive had broken an old film into two pieces, so I joined them back together and YouTubed it. I found the two pieces accidentally and luckily one day by searching Star Wars and toys. :D

Oh and that furry puppet has a jaunty gait.

Fantastic footage and interesting from a Palitoy perspective

The Palitoy Desth Star but Kenner Landspeeder and X-Wing

Loved seeing original SW footage too

It's a fantastic video, thanks very much for uploading it to YouTube. I've watched it a good half dozen times since discovering it online this morning. I love seeing footage from when Star Wars broke in the UK, I think because I was only 4 in '78 and so missed it all at the time. Cheers again Chipsteak.

Thanks for posting - fantastic to see this as I first saw the film at the (recently demolished) Leicester Square Theatre featured here and until now only had found a fews pics and my kept ticket stubs.

That was fantastic thanks for posting. Somehow the dodgy Star Wars footage seemed all the more special.
