I've got a lot of Don Post helmets to sell - growing older and changed responsibilities mean I have to move them on :(

I've got a Darth Vader helmet that comes apart at the front, a red imperial guard helmet, a stormtrooper helmet with no padding and a scout biker helmet. The scout biker helmet has got foam padding and is quite heavy. Out of interest, where's the best place to sell them? I don't want to go down the eBay route with these. If you can offer any advice and guidance, I'd really appreciate it.

Welcome to SWF.

Good luck with your sales - I'd recommend a quick look at this post to start off with: http://www.starwarsforum.co.uk/viewtopic.php?f=4&t=5114

Thanks for all of your replies. I bought the helmets when I was a student in the late 90s from plan 9 in Aberdeen. I live in central Scotland and the helmets are in storage at my parents house in Inverness. I'm heading up there this weekend. Can I upload photos directly from my ipad to the forum? The helmets are in great condition for their age and have never been worn or used in any way. Unfortunately my wife doesn't share my love of Star Wars and I've been instructed to get rid of them. I always wanted to buy a set of armour from original stormtrooper and get a mannequin, but that's not going to happen now. The scout helmet is a lot weightier than the rest and has foam padding which was in it when I bought it. The others don't have any padding.

Thanks for all of your replies so far. I really appreciate them. Is ebay the best way to sell them? I got my fingers burned on there a while ago and am a bit cautious about selling 'big' items of value on it.

Plan 9 - I've spent a fair bit of money in that shop over the years :D
I'm hoping to buy a SDS set of armour and display it on a mannequin just as you described at some point as well.

My daughter has asked about getting a Biker Scout helmet a few times for our collection (got her a Stormtrooper helmet for her 16th last year and she loves it) so would be keen to see pictures of it. I'm only half an hour away from Inverness :D

I'll send you a PM (top right orange box) with my email address that you can send pictures to

Cheers

Hi folks, thanks for all of the PMs. I'm open to offers on the helmets as I can't work out how much they're worth. IIRC, I paid a fair bit for them from Plan 9 in Aberdeen. Unfortunately, I haven't retained the receipts. I think I probably paid over the odds for them in the first place. eBay the best way to go with them?

Ebay is a good reference point - but if you can get private sales on here then you will avoid the eBay fees + you are safe in the knowledge that they guys on here are top class

Looking at completed listings (sold) should give you an idea on value (not sure if these are exactly the same but should give you an idea)

The Vader is a standard one, one went on eBay a couple of months ago on eBay just under a tenner

I've seen them go £20£40 ish. As they are DV. standard Don Post. ( rubies took over and carried on producing)

It's like anything else with eBay might not sell at all or go for a tenner or £100 all depends if 2 or 3 people want it

Good luck with the sales

Are you collecting, looking to stay around on the forum, as you can always look to trade on here with the guys, then everyone wins,
