Display table / coffee table type thing. Help please

So I was up town a couple of weekends ago, drinking in a trendy bar. (Not my usual haunt you understand, the beer was far too cold and fizzy.) Anyway, they had some awesome tables dotted around the bar. There were a few pinball coffee tables like this:

This is not an actual pic from the bar, but you get the idea.

But in amongst them, they also had an acrylic/perspex display table / coffee table type-of-thing, full of Corgi/Dinky cars. Usually a picture would speak a thousand words. However, in this case I'd had a few so this is the best picture I managed of one end of the table:

Now I'm thinking something like this would look awesome full of everybody's favourite 3 3/4" figures. I'd fill it with beaters, before you ask - it would get far too expensive trying to fill it with mint figures. The wife even agrees that it would be pretty cool, and means SW can take another step in colonising the lounge.

Anyone seen anything like this before, or any idea where I might source such a table? I tried emailing the bar and asking to be put in touch with the designers. I've also tried searching the web, but I'm not having much luck. Anyone with experience in the world of acrylic know where I might get one fashioned?

I know a man that would most likely be able to make this kind of thing for you, they make fishtanks, so this should be a doddle & I don't mean tidler fishtanks, more the oil sheik kind, won't be cheap though as thick acrylic is expensive, saying that if your handy, I have some spare 15mm acrylic if you fancy a little D.I.Y

Thats really cool, love things like that. Would look brilliant with SW figures in it. Yeah I doubt you'll find anything like that retail. There's companys that could make it for you but it would cost a fortune. I would get a suitable table then make or have made the clear top part the right size and attach/screw it to the top of the table. Would like see it if you do one!

Under normal circumstances, I would probably relish the DIY challenge. But we've got bambino numero uno due imminently. Now that I've finished the AT-ST, my workload is full of baby related projects. I am keen to get this done asap tho. I've got wife approval and want to get the wheels in motion before her baby brain wares off. :wink:

Frank, if you think your man could knock something like this up I might see if I can source an appropriate coffee table. Let me know.

There's a splattering of Star Wars in my lounge but I wouldn't call it full colonisation :lol: .Theres a couple of ships, a Stormtrooper helmet, a Han Solo blaster and a few framed bits. Any more would be taking the piss, I don't think she'd have it :|

I've only just got 'er indoors to accept a second display cabinet in the spare room.

If I mentioned moving stuff into the lounge, she would initiate Operation Scrotum Removal

I've always thought something like this would look cool. Going a step further if money was no object it would be cool to have an acrylic ceiling full of MOC's so from the ground floor you can see the backs and on the first floor you look down at the front! :shock:
