During lock me and my son were walking through the locals woods were we came across a concealed clearing covered by Trees. As we were walking I spotted some old milk bottles and jam jars in the undergrowth what intrigued me was a couple of small pieces of old school lego.

A couple of weeks later we got some spades and we thought we would dig around see what we could find.. from my finds it looks as though it was a late 1970s to early 80s fly tip. The following finds are indeed literally rubbish but memories to my childhood which being a collector of vintage starwars and other lines of that era spawned great enthusiasm in me for a fun few hours and precious memories for me and my son on a great afternoon out infact in we went back again.

The highlights are the crisp packets which still hold vibrant colors still..captain america I have framed. A palitoy 1960s blue pants Actionman arm its hand is still rubbery and and has hardly degraded. There is a collection of broken cars, lego pieces,The candy bone shaker coffin was cool to find as was the rowntrees smarties top.

The Robinson Thirst Ranger a refillable drinks bottle was the real memory kicker. As soon as I saw the purple when I was digging i knew what it was and took me right back when i was a kid I remember hanging one round my neck on hot summers day.

That's very cool! What's the expiry date on the monster munch?

That's a great story and I remember those bone shakers well, a real blast from the past! Also the Captain America crisp were something I'd forgotten about so thanks for posting your finds :D

what an absolute gold mine i remember those coffin sweets. go back dig deeper we want more, fed up with the you tube Victorian bottle digging on all the time , you should start up back to the 70's early80's digging, i expect evidence of outer spacers and whistle pops by next week
I do some metal detecting sometimes and find stuff like this now and then (time for a sticky thread where we show off our " not rubbish "finds) :)
