Hi Aaron.

Outing live auctions is frowned upon in the community especially if your interested in it yourself as you just leave yourself with more competiton!

Link to auctions which have finished for at least 3 days occansionally and you will be ok

It appears that seller is a member anyways as I remember seeing the username around

Glad I read this thread, I take it the "WTF someone listing 50 carded Romba's" ebay listings for a high BIN is OK though???? They're interesting for us to see but will stop if it's a problem.

I think outing a BIN is fine to be honest - if someone wanted it then they should have BIN'd it !!

In terms of auction outing, I don't want us to go down the route that RS goes where about 50 people jump on the back of the poor sod who dared to post the link. Alright, it probably does make it available to all but at the end of the day, a good Ebay search would probably find it

Once again......any idiot with a keyboard and an internet connection can find items on ebay. I agree somethings get mis-listed....but for the mass bulk......all of us know how to find items......so I agree a simple ebay search finds most items. and yes...I think there are people on RS who have absolutely no interest in items and just wait for the one guy who posts a link so they can go all Nazi on them or post 100 oversized pictures. :lol: :lol: :lol:

My personal opinion on auction outing:

Anything on ebay that is either funny, weird, super interesting, a holy grail type item (usually with a BIN price nobody could afford anyway) and of course any obvious fakes are all welcome to be posted.

Anything listed with a cheap BIN that you might want to let someone else take advantage is probably best PM'd to the person you think might appreciate it most. Any live auctions of nice stuff or keenly priced BIN's should be left off the forum.

My reasoning is purely this:

You shove a link on here for a great deal, someone else buys it after seeing the link. All good right? Well not really. There are people that don't always check completed listings that may then see the link after the item sold and try to backdoor the original buyer.

It's true we can all find this stuff so why not let it be found by the ones looking for it instead of just giving it to everyone on a plate?

Joe, I see your reasoning and 100% agree - there have been times where I have seen auctions outed that I am bidding on and though - bugger that will increase the number of bidders

However, I just don't want us to go down the RS route where we vilify anyone who dares to post something, especially someone new to the boards

Oh I agree I don't think we need any attitude when someone comes along and posts an auction especially if it's a new member but I still think every member new or old should be sensible about posting links.

If someone does do it though you guys can flag the post using the report "!" symbol so a moderator can remove the link if you can't get the thread starter to remove it quickly.

I really am sorry, common sense would have dictated that I should have none better, didn't want to start any debates or anything but it would appear that I made the mistake in what so far has been a really friendly forum and as of yet had no hate mail! I hope to continue posting and reading the treads for a long time to come and fingers crossed I'll keep my nose clean! But I doubt I was the first and probably won't be the last, I like to think people can tell when a genuine mistake has been made so can act accordingly to it and thankfully that happened in my case.

dont worry dude, I'm still learning the dos and donts mate. but the one thing i learnt fast is that this forum is populated with some awesome guys who are laid back and encourage open discussions. this thread has been good for me too. like i said dont worry mate
