My old man had a stroke last week, and has paralysis of his left side. It been a hard week, and knowing he was in hospital for his birthday yesterday and will be in over xmas is even harder but for the first time ever today my father talked Star Wars with my little boy ( his grandson ) :) he told Sonny how he and mum bought me all the toys when i was a nipper and it really got to me. Sonny was also telling him who was who and it brought a lump to my throat.

Its been a bloody tough year, and with Dad falling ill it makes it harder. However, he is still here and fighting, doing physio and battling to win. Its his fourth stroke and damage looks really bad but again he survived.

Its reminded me just of who we are, what we are and how we should be. Cherish your loved ones and friends and never take them for granted.

Id like to wish you all a merry xmas and really hope to be more involved again next year.

Hope your Dad is ok mate, really nice that your Dad and your lad have that connection, and that you so obviously do.
Family is everything hope all goes well mate

All the best bud

Sorry to hear that news mate, sounds like your dad is made of tough stuff, hope his recovery goes well, take care and all the best

**** Lee, so sorry to hear of your dad's failing health.

Very nice that in the face of adversity, he's building a bond with Sonny.

Hope your Christmas is the best it can be under the circumstances. Be well my friend.

Ian

Thanks lads. Its more special because i never had a Star Wars chat with my dad :D He is progressing well and although there will be some permanent damage he will get some feeling back. Just spome to him and he is on top form, he told me to enjoy my xmas or he will get the hump with me...typical old school.

Glad to see someone treasuring moments like this. Advice (that I struggle to follow myself) is treasure them all.

I hope it goes ok for your family :)

Sad to hear that about your Dad. One of my parents took ill during the year but alls good now. It does come as a severe shock when your one of your parents takes a serious illness. You are always used with them still looking out for you and seeming indestructible and when they take sick its hard. I know some on here will have lost people close to them and can't imagine how hard it is.
I also know people as I am sure yous all do who can have family fallouts. Which can result in family not speaking which ends up very sad for everyone. A guy once told me remember life's not a trial run so make the most of it. Some people don't appreciate their parents when we have them with us. Or others that we are very close to. I know myself I am working to stay very close to them because I have now realized they will always be my best friends, and someone who would never let me down.
I am really glad your dad is making a connection with your son. I also hope that hes as comfortable as he can be in his situation. At least you seem close to him and I am sure hes happy knowing your there for him.
