Well today I got a parcel outside my door from the states, with a Customs Charge of £27.47 - yet it was at my door to take inside my house.

What's that all about :?: :?: :?: :?:

Did I get lucky somehow?

You'll likely get a bill through the post asking for the money. I get a couple of those a month. I now wait till they send a request via a solicitor threatening court action. That way i know they've spent more money than i owe them. Then i pay. ;)

They can't prove I ever got the parcel though, so not sure if they have a strong case to claim the charges if I ever get a bill

I think you'd have to file some kind of claim tho to show that you didn't get it.

So i owe customs £25.20 on a total of about $140

What a rip off

Plus 20% of the shipping and an £8 "handling" fee which in my opinion ought to be illegal.

bought some stuff @ $41.79 postage uk @ $20.74

asked seller if he could mark as gift! could i be ****ed over on customs charges?

I could be wrong, but even if the seller marks the item as 'Gift' and the value is still $41.79 you will be charged for some sort of custom charge. To be totally safe you need to get the seller to mark the item at $20 or less.

I've just neg'd on seller on Ebay because the cow promised to mark the items down as $10 each and then went ahead marked the full amount  . She is now asking for revised feedback as I've destroyed her 100% feedback rating. She stating it is against ebay policy and all that crap..........tough I say as she promised she would mark the items down. I 'm not revising the feedback
