I have just been browsing eBay and seen a Loose DT Darth Vader in USA , it's at £4.5k already

This is just ****ing nuts ,

Happy daze to the guys who have them !

But come on , that's more expensive than gold

4.5k?! That's an insane price for any figure let alone on a figure like Darth Vader. If it was an original Jawa with the original vinyl cape & gun then i'd understand the crazy high price. About 4 weeks ago on This Morning i think? Someone had some of the figures in the packets. They said about the vinyl cape Jawa being worth 8k! mint on card unopened!

High price for sure, but a DT vader is worth considerably more than a Vinyl cape jawa.

Now if it were an ordinary Vader then yes the VC Jawa is worth more. But 4.5k for a loose VC jawa is pretty far out to be even remotely understandable.

The Jawa being worth 8k on a card is quite conceivable in the current market though we're probably talking the Palitoy version. I think one hit 11k on eBay....sold for even more privately.

Then of course there was the Boba Fett sale early this year!!

There will be 2 things happening,

1. Everyone will start checking lofts , garages , barns and finding lots more hidden gems and prices may drop

2. Copy's will get better and start to catch out collectors into paying thousands of pounds

The DT Vader is a very rare figure intact , I look forward to seeing what it finishes on

It's a lot of money just for a lightsabre but a lot to some might not be a lot to others. It's a lot to me. I sold a loose AFA 90 DT Vader in 2010 for around £2500. Times have well moved on from there tho.

That price is a bit mental, even for a DT. I would agree though way more scarce than a VCJ. I've been browsing ebay daily for years and you don't see many DT's come along. If that's loose imagine what a MOC is worth!? I wonder how many are out there? I've only seen them once in Jeff Jacobs collection, he has all three carded.

Everyone here has a fair valuable comment on the value of a DT Darth Vader. I was actually wondering, how do you determine the value of any Star Wars figure on Ebay or in a shop selling vintage figures? I have a really good book that has average values of all the figures, loose or MOC.

Your book will be out of date before it's printed - it's a guide to relative rarity at best.

eBay is the best guide - as long as they are real bidders it should set it's own price.

Just seen another for sale on eBay , this time it's only £2.6k bin , However is missing his tip but has a certificate

Again abit much on a damaged figure

I remember like 5-6 years ago passing on a DT vader for around 1700, now the price is nearly 3 times as high....

I guess the buyer is just confident that with eBay protection then they will get their money back if it turns out to be fake

As for the price - it's crazy, but there are just so many people in this hobby now all chasing after 'grails'
