Evening gent's. If I were able to produce some bespoke display solutions, cabinets, stands etc, what do you thinks would be the kind of price range the average collector would be prepared to pay. I would potentially be able to make any size, shape, colour etc, in any style really. Something like this

https://www.google.co.uk/search?q=action+figure+display+case&source=lnms&tbm=isch&sa=X&ei=rosXU9SDForkyAGyxoHYCQ&sqi=2&ved=0CAgQ_AUoAg&biw=1280&bih=694#facrc=_&imgdii=_&imgrc=V7QGTnwe_yDTxM%253A%3BbWsasp16zyIkgM%3Bhttp%253A%252F%252Fwww.figuredisplay.com%252Flargeimages%252FStarWarsDesign1.JPG%3Bhttp%253A%252F%252Fwww.starwarsforum.co.uk%252Fviewtopic.php%253Ff%253D1%2526t%253D11165%3B1024%3B768

They would be wooden construction with a hinged door, sprayed to a custom spec.
Lights etc, are also a possibility I imagine.

What do you think, or am I wasting my time?

Look forward to the feedback

i think its a great idea mate, not just for forums but ebay could be a goldmine for you with toy collectors wanting perfect sized cases for their vintage and modern collection.

i would certainly consider one, i did search for weeks on ebay and found a perfect one for cheap, with adjustable shelves, cost me £50.

thats the only thing you would have to compete with, it depends on your production costs vs peoples wallets

Wow! Would you be able to make them like that yellow and black Star Wars case? You could make a mint mate. They look brilliant :) I might be tempted

When I eventually get a display room set up again I would be looking to have display units made to measure room and requirements, so I'd certainly be interested.

Only issue is cost!

Thanks for the replies chaps. They could be made totally bespoke. I will make a plain prototype and post up.
From that point, they would be customised to your spec. I'm thinking they would be glass fronted, not perspex. MDF frame with a pine front. I'm thinking glass shelves rather than wood, but it all depends on the cost of the materials. That's why I needed to know how much you would prepared to pay. These would be good quality 8)

I'll update soon......................................................

I could get glass cut to size, cheaper than perspex. This is only idea at the moment. The more I think about it, the more I think I could make it work, but there's alot to think about. Working progress though.

I'm always amazed at how expensive perspex is compared to glass. Glass would definitely look better. Off the top of your head do you have a figure for how much these would go for?

I'd like to find someone in the uk who can produce large transfer's. I think I have a glass supplier lined up. The cost of the frame would be reasonable. It depends on the glass really. I plan to make about 3 cases sizes as standard. One for loose, one for small boxed items, and some kind of casing for MOC's. Anything beyond that would be the 'bespoke' bit, and therefore more expensive. I would say the standard size figure case would cost £60-£80. Only a guess though until i've made a couple up and got firm glass prices.
If you have an idea of something you want, give me a PM and we can discuss it

Cheers for the interest and feedback

Frame work made, and shelving in place.
It's looking like there will now be a 'shelving only', and framed version and a glazed framed version.

Would you guys like to see a 'symbol' are some some kind of graphic on the back panel?
Any colour scheme's you guys would like to see?

I'm hoping to have one of these ready to show at FF.

Seeing what you did with the Endor garden I reckon this cabinet is going to look great 8) looking forward to seeing it finished :)

Cheers mate, I'm working on some designs for the back panel as we speak. I just hope there's enough people wanting to buy them.

I've got some sizes, so measure your walls people!!

984mm tall
107mm deep
and about 600mm wide

It's designed to hold the entire loose run. (no ewoks/droids)

I'm not sure at the moment TBH. I'm still at the costing stage. Obviously the glazed fronted ones will be more, and depends on the finish people want. These will all be hand finished by me, so will be good quality, and a decent piece of furniture. If anyone on here can supply me cheap glass (must be edged), it will bring the price down

Back panel of the demo, just painted.
Not long now people...............................................................

I think I will be interested in one of these a little while down the line.

Back plate looks good. Look forward to seeing the finished artical. :D
