Anybody good on here with computers. My kids have managed to attract a virus called Middle Rush which basically pops coupons and adverts. I have tried to get rid of it but no matter what I do I can't get rid of it. I've run ad-aware but it doesn't seem to be picking anything up. I'm about to through it out the window as it's annoying the hell out of me.

I'm running chrome which it seems to have attached itself to. It doesn't seem to be appearing on Microsoft edge.

Hmmm not good, you could try to Start in Safemode and install Malware scanner and Ccleaner both free to download. Once they have done that restart and run the same procedure again may work. But if its really bad you may find yourself fighting it forever the safer option is to do a clean install. IF you need to save data download and install Ubuntu to a CD or USB drive. Once on the disk boot from the Disk to open Ubuntu. This allows access to your pictures documents etc. Save them to a external HDD or memory stick. Once all the data is backed up (sadly you can't back up Software such as office). Do a clean install from Disk or repair my computer to restore you computer to factory settings as it was new from the box.

Cheers guys will give it a go. Had this before and managed to clear it. Last time ad aware picked up 2 Trojans but this time it's not. Must be well hidden.

No problem, mate good luck. Wish I could be of more help had to deal with a similar issue last week at work. The joys of working in IT.

Ok, fingers crossed its sorted. Was running another
Ad Aware full system scan whilst writing the initial post. Just finished and it picked up 15 threats!!

Just rebooting to see it it has actually cleared them.

I ****ing hate these virus programmers. Nothing but a pain in the arse.

Thanks for the responses guys. Will keep your suggestions for future reference.

Sometimes a virus will continue to run even after the antivirus programs have scanned and cleaned them. I run with Firefox, so am not familiar with Chrome, but in Firefox, there is an application page accessible from the top right corner of the screen. If you can find your computer's downloaded apps, look for the program causing the issue. Antiviruses don't always pick it up, as it becomes a downloaded program that runs automatically. Then manually switch it to off, inactive, whatever your control would be. That's helped me with similar issues.

you can also do a system rollback too if there is nothing important on the system, it may not fully clear it but all the user setting will be back to normal in a minute, then run a scan with malwarebytes

if its just your chrome settings that have been changed, you can filter through them all and change them back or just uninsall chrome quicky (delete any chrome folders too) and reinstall it.

One of the sales managers rang IT panicking as he has a virus that has encrypted all documents and is demanding pay $500 to solve the issue.

Ouch! I heard of one that takes your photo while you're looking at certain sites :? then posts the photo onto your screen permanently until you pay up to have it removed.

Recently my laptop had Adware logos all over everything and virtually every link I clicked on took me to some betting page or other bollocks. Had to send it away to get sorted :x

Most issues are easily solvable, and a quick google search can help, key is always haveva backup image to get you up and running in 5 mins :)
