Hey guys
Anyone using this yet - https://sites.google.com/site/portyworld/

I downloaded the free bit but haven't pulled the trigger on purchasing the full app, mostly as they don't say how much it will cost.

First impression is it looks nice, just wondered if anyone else had done the whole thing?

I believe we had some discussion last year about this app. I'll have to see if I can find that thread. Here's the iTunes link, but the app is for iPad only, so you won't be able to find it if you're searching on an iPhone.

I think the app has some potential. My main issue I'd say is that it is huge because all the images are stored within the app, so it takes a long time to download. The in app purchases are £.69 for the full browse mode and then £2.99 for the collection mode. I spoke to the developer a little bit about a year before it was released and then again just before it went live. Seems like a nice guy. He wanted to use some of my coin images, so I let him go ahead and also paid me for them. He seems very keen on feedback to try and make it a good app for collectors. It's good to see that he's still working on a further update.

Thanks, forgot about the old conversation but now it is mentioned it rings a bell. For £2.99 I might give it a pop. The one feature I would love is to put your own photos into the the app so you can see your own figure alongside the stock image.

I remember talking about this app and totally forgot about it. Im going to definitely give it a try once it's completely updated.

@Monkey_Roo: that's a great idea, it would be awesome to upload pics of you figs to the app.

Playing with it now (the app that is people...)

The look and feel is nice although as an interface it isn't 100% clear what does what.
Once you get into collector mode it takes a moment or two to figure out the icon driven menu but once you are there it is pretty good.

Obviously there are only images for the first 12 in there right now so there is is a way to go and yes it is a little slow.

After an hour of using the app I would say the following things would be good:

1 - complete the DB to include all 96 figures maybe Ewoks and Droids as well, bit of a no brainer there.
2 - add in the cardbacks for each figure so you can scroll through those alongside the figure
3 - I would change the method of selecting a figure you own to a more initiative tick box option
4 - as said I would love to be able to load my own image in from the iPad photo collection (many apps can do this now)
5 - get rid of the random feature, not really needed.
6 - maybe look to simplfy the main menu
8 - standardise the use of the rebel and imperial insignias in the top corners, one should always take you to the main menus the other maybe to your stats, or something like that, touch inconsistent right now and they should be ever present throughout.
9 - get rid of the odd sub menu that appears, actually generally standardise the menu structure. Use the web full of thumb any more than three clicks is a click to much.
10 - have the mode the app is set in remain consistent, it seems to flick about as I come in and out of it and flick between figures, one mode setting in a settings section app wide.

All that said it looks nice and has the potential to be a real collectors database so worth supporting and filing comments to the developers (if you can).
