Yesterday I was helping the Mrs tidy up the young kid's bedroom in time for Christmas. He's into Star Wars and plays with toy cars and all the usual stuff kids have these days. But it's got out of hand with crap people have bought him so we were having a clearout.
Sorting through tubs of broken robots, cars and little gadgety things got me thinking a few things -
1. Is this what my parents did, and is this where all my toys disappeared to (the wrong end of a bin bag)?
2. Am I chucking away future collectibles?
3. How **** are kids toys these days. Did my parents think that? Surely not
This whole tidying thing was actually strangely satisfying. To me tidying out all the crap makes way for cool toys that I ....I mean, the kid, loves :? This attitude did make me feel like some kind of toy Nazi though, but what the hell - I know cool toys when I see 'em! 8)
As toy collectors how do we feel about throwing modern toys away? Where you ever asked as a kid if you wanted to keep stuff and decided you didn't and now it turns out you chucked away a few grands worth of Star Wars vintageness? :x
