Ive always wanted a VCJ but couldnt justify a £300+ for a single loose figure. so i set my self a budget of £150-200 max for this grail loose figure i wasn't fussed about condition along it was original.
i was tipped of on a grubby ripped one on ebay germany @ xmas time. it was a buy it now aprox £175 inc p/p. after much deliberation and alot messaging i pulled the trigger and anxiously waited. it was from a german dealer who had bought a child hood collection, the cape was torn and was covered in stained paint residue the seller told me the person he bought it from camouflaged the cape and figures legs as a child.
fast forward to now and after extensive cleaning from a variety of products and methods and time (6 months lol) this grail figure for me now is in pride of place in my loose collection. the cape is on the same way round as i bought it, the figure is also the same
The Ebay auction
how it was received
The smooth side of the cape was on the outside and the zip side inside. the cape had remnants of old camoflage oil based paint which was embedded into the vinyl cape around the sides and back and looked terrible in hand. the cape had a about a 8mm tear underneath one arm. the figure is tight limbed has great paint on torso, hands has some wear. the legs were also covered with remnants of old paint back and front.
The COO is the more commonly found #1b
Here are the before and after pics of the clean up process
The Cape Before (Showing painted smoothed side and clean zip side with tear hole)
After
The Figure Before (Showing Painted Legs)
After
Figure now cleaned and suited up
Figure now tooled up with a jawa blaster and displayed in a gw sliding case
its been a long and patient process but rewarding. hoped you like my grail piece.
