I just remembered why my old grey x-wing has been shoved in a box in the attic for the last 20 years - one of the wings has come off

Someone has obviously had a go at bodging it back on in the past (probably me). Has anyone ever succesfully stuck a snapped off wing back on? Just trying to figure out some way to do it

Cheers guys

I think the only way is to replace it if the tabs which connect the two wings together are broke, I managed to pick a few beaters up at boot sales years ago to make one good one, it will only be one of the two sets broken but its getting the right one, if it was a childhood one that you want to fix so it works. You could prob take apart and brace it with credit card plastic, to hold it on but it would not work only display.
Finding a grey version may mean a trip to evil bay

Thanks for the reply. Looking at it I can see there must be a way to brace the wing, maybe with a credit card like you suggested. What glue to use. I'm thinking Araldite or some sort of epoxy. Need to take the thing apart. I gather that's straight forward enough?

Hello Barry years ago I made a double cockpit x-wing, after seeing the kenner mock up photos in a s w collecting mag,  horror now cutting up two vintage x-wings things we did years ago, wings were ok but attached a lot of the inner parts together with small bolts and washers if there's room to do this it will not come off again, if this is to aggressive could try glue option think its called seriously strong glue, think mr toy polloi uses it on some of his fixes. Take the broken long wing out and try to glue the strips of plastic on and trim with a dremil to get the best fit possible but never tried this so good luck :D

Thanks for all the pointers chaps.

I'm deffo liking this idea of using plastic strips and small nuts and bolts. Probably like the sort of thing you get in Meccano sets. We should have that sort of thing knocking around the house :)

I stood on a x-wing wing once.

My dad whos quite hands on fixed it using a 2 small g clamps to support the wing break and 2 part apoxy resin to fix the snap. It worked a treat
