Boba Fett ROTJ 77 back fake?

Hi there,

I was just wondering if any of you experts thought the following ebay listing was a fake? The punch looks too far to the right and slightly too large compared to other 77 back Boba fetts I've seen for sale. In saying that it looks like it has the cross hatch pattern around the bubble. Here's the link below:

It's always worrying when no one seems to be jumping onto a good thing.

Thanks,
Gerry

Hi, i have a graded one of these and the punch is in the same position on mine, looks good to me mate

Thanks, guys.

I've just started collecting again after an almost 15 year break. Just looking out for the figures I always wanted, for now. Need to star somewhere.

Thanks again.

I'm always weary of someone calming not to know anything about the item their selling and dreadfully bad grammar! Also, the other auction pictures aren't consistent. If your going to have a bid on it, make sure you ask all the right questions before hand. Remember, if it's too good to be true, then it probably is...

I'll be damned. You learn something new every day. I didn't think they started using those sculpted trays until the POTF figures. Were there any other in the ROTJ range that had the shaped trays for the figures?

Hi again,

I've had another look at this item, and although most of it looks legit, I now know what's bothering me about it. The picture on the card has been printed too far to the left. The left margin is too small and the right too big. Is this right? Were cardbacks printed with this kind of glitch? All other rotj 77 backs that I have had a look at seem to have the image centred - including boba. I'm new to this and just don't want to end up paying a lot of money for a fake :)

Thanks,
Gerry

Sorry guys,

Didn't see all you posts - hadn't updated the page. Yes, the packaged bubble threw me as well! I think I'll let this one go, but if it is legit then it would be a shame. Better safe than sorry :)

Here is one that belonged to me

Slightly off centre + I can't recall seeing a fake with a yellowed bubble

Yes, the yellow bubble/criss cross pattern has thrown me. The picture you posted above looks legit - no probs with that one - not like the one listed :) if they are from the same range why are they so different? Factory glitch? ;)

Gerry, fancy this graded example at £999.99?

Lol! A tad too steep for me right now. The only way I'll get one of these bad boys is by stealth and cunning :)

Fett's are just ridiculous price wise at the moment - the ROTJ ones are not 'rare' at all yet I regularly see them on FB for over $1000

I'm sure that one Gerry is looking at will be shy of £400 at auctions end? To answer Scruffy' NH earlier point regarding sculpted trays, my Luke Jedi ROTJ has a sculpted tray. I'm sure Iain will list the others with one.

The figure is nearly at 300 with 5 hours to go. I have scoured the internet to find a single rotj 77 back that looks like this and not a jot have I found. Has anyone ever seen this kind of cardback before? Very odd :| it's the margins that look wrong to me.

Looks OK to me, maybe the printer wasn't aligned properly way back when, I bought a one of these, wasn't sure on it so sent it to be graded just to be sure before I kept mine. Mine was in-line though, maybe worth doing it that way for your piece of mind

And looking through my MOCs I noticed Prune Face and I think it was Teebo also had these trays. Missed them all these years. Wonder what else I've missed!
