bizarre talking r2d2 toy

i have just rediscovered a weird r2d2 toy i bought a few years ago and it is a bit tatty however, powered by two AA batteries,
it it actually speaks, it says "this information is vital to the rebels", "help me obi wan kenobi" and bizarrely "i am r2d2!!!"
as a fan of the movies i am fairly certain r2d2 cannot talk.
the workings inside sounds very mechanical.
it has no real makers mark on it other than a small sticker inside with 'D2' written on it and a stamp reading '017 0"
does anyone know wtf this is, or where it is from??? help please....!

Not worth a massive amount with the yellowing I'd say. They are more unusual than the R/C version though as they were only sold in the UK.

Worth more to the american collector. List it worldwide on ebay and you may be surprised.
