Hi guys

I'm sure many of you have parted with stuff in the past for various reasons and regretted it. Hell, I've even regretted purchases in the first place.
However, I'm going to post a few pics of my main selling regrets.

I had a nice Leia too but can't find the pic of that one.
I don't regret parting with that carpet though.......

Go on guys, be brave, post some of the items that you wish you still had.

Regards
Paul

Wow, those are incredible Paul. The Leia is a bitch to get.

I have some loose Glasslite figures, they're really cool variants.

I don't have many regrets collecting wise, I like to keep my collection pretty fluid, moving stuff on to buy other bits, that way it never gets boring. I'm not a hoarder style collector, I have limited space.

My biggest regret/nessecity was having to sell all my loose last 17 at CE this year in the room sales. My Mac blew up a couple of days before heading off to london and I had to replace all my software and hardware - which is critical to my job.

Luckily I managed to raise enough cash in that one night to cover the hefty bill :)

My stepdad picked me up some really cool items in the early 90s and like a dick I sold most of it when I moved to London with ex about 15 years ago.

There was a mint sealed ESB x-wing, ESB birthday candles, loads of sealed mini-rigs, immaculate shop stock plush ewoks. But most of all figures from the micro line. He asked if i still had them last year. Didn't have the heart to say they were sold

I hear ya Mark, I was also in a position where I had to shift some stuff on because of car issues.
The price I got for the lot would maybe land me one of these in return now :?
If you ever have computer issues in future and feel the need to move your Glasslite loose figures on, you know where I am

I've learned it's best not to think about it
I'm even wondering if it's wise keeping hold of the pics?
I would have been all over you for that X-wing though 8)

As somebody that's been buying and selling for over 20 years, of course there are many things I have long since sold for a fraction of what they are worth now. The one that bugs me the most currently as I want another one is trilogo Yak Face. Two reasons - firstly I paid about £250 for him, and they now sell for closer to £1000. Secondly because I didn't sell him, he was stolen.

Too many to mention (current value vs what I sold them for) :o
I had an army of tri fetts at one point if I had them now I could probably retire

I've never owned any glasslite figures. They were really nice pieces pulsar!......wish i could say the same about your taste in carpet

Well, the most obvious is my childhood collection. Other than that there's nothing I regret letting go since I started vintage collecting. The last things I'd probably let go are the MOCs I bought in the mid 90s - they're nothing special, but I've had them so long they're almost as precious to me as my childhood collection would be if I still had it.

Oh no Edd!!
Would you recognise it if it came up for sale?
Any distinguishing marks?
It's one of the few figures I've never owned carded but always fancied one.

It's an ongoing question and has been debated for the last 20 years.
I used to frequent RS many years ago and a lot of the so called experts were always saying that the bubble would burst and prices would plummet.
They would tell people to cash in now and get £300 for your loose VCJ while you can

Can't disagree mate, the carpet was already fitted and new when I purchased my house. I tried to get as much wear as I could before embarrassment crept in

I'll miss my R2 from my childhood, it had a yellow marble(Dalek) stuck inside it's cavity and wouldn't dislodge.

My toy regret was when I was around 13. I had out grown playing with toys and I personally packed my toys in black bin bags and left them on the side of the street for the bin men to take :( My wise Mother even asked me at the time, 'are you sure you want to do that.' My response, 'I'm not a kid anymore.'

Err.....

:?

No massive regrets from me, I sold a first shot last year that I kind of regret but only as I couldnt now afford to buy it back if I wanted.

Otherwise everything is fairly common just a lot more expensive than when I sold it - these two I regret most

That Fett was the only large scale figure i owned back in the day.
Two cracking pieces there!

That Fett was £35 on ebay - the good old days!

Indeed!

The box and figure would go for perhaps double that separately on a good day.
There was a nice one and a sealed one at Vectis the other month but can't remember what they Fett-ched (see what I did there)

 that Fett. One of three large figures we had as kids. Bloody fantastic figure it is too.

groan

there was one without the inserts not selling at £200 recently, its just as rare as IG-88 in the ESB box but half the price. I'll get another one day.

Yeah, they turn up at £200 relatively frequently although a MISB will cost £700+.

It's corny but my biggest regret is carbooting my original figures. Since then if I've seen something I really, really want I buy it and then sell anything that doesn't have a pulse to cover it. I don't regret selling up between childhood and now as they held no sentimental value and I wasn't part of any community so I just didn't find collecting so much fun. I bought them, put them in boxes and some time down the line remembered them and sold them. Amazing what difference this place makes.

I look back at sales threads I did 6 or so years ago and see plenty of things that would sell for more now but then if I hadn't sold them I wouldn't have picked up some of the goodies that I have now so it is all relative

I don't tend to let much that I really like go so am lucky to that extent - but am sure some of the guys that have been doing this for 20 years have a few regrets just based on prices now - I saw a thread bumped on RS the other day with a TFP Proof staying around for months at $200!
