In a similar vein to 'best films' and ' best tunes', what do you guy's think is a good read. I've just built a giant book case and need to fill it!
Personally, i'm on the last of the noughts and crosses series by Marorie Blackman. Bloody brilliant books.
Also a big fan of the Dan Brown books.
Any recommendations?

So you can't make it out for a pint but you can start the Star Wars Forum book club - pah !

Ha, I can use the laptop and watch the kids at the same time. I can multi-skill :? Anyway, the kids are getting involved.
Noddy meets father christmas, and the Octonoughts annual :D

I've heard and read alot about this, should I read it before I watch it.?
I watched the Girl with the fragon tatoo trilogy before I saw the films and I think that really helped.
How many game of thrones books are there?

I've just read 'Seven Ancient Wonders' by Matthew Reilly, very good read, it quite a big book but I finished it in 4 days. Going down to the library tomorrow to get his other books.

Print is dead! - I collect spores moulds & fungus

The red dwarf books are hilarious if you want to split your sides & I think the Alien/predator & AVP books are **** hot & worth a gander, just avoid the Music of the spears as that one was a bit dodgy IMO, all of them were better than any of the films IMO

Definitely read the books first. I think there are 6 at present but they are huge. DoD is over 900 pages. The first few are in order but book 5 and 6 start at the same time and the last third of 6 takes over from the ending of 5 which sounds very confusing but is explained at the end of 5. If you like LOTR and a lot more violence then these are the books for you. Possibly too much sex and language in them though. What I like about them is that literally any character could die.

Too much sex?..............I doubt it :D
They sound great, i will defo try and get hold of them, cheers

currently readimg the hobbit for 100th time, just love that book. also i bought a number of original print 1965 man from uncle books recently and they are good fun.
I Read a lot of sport / feats of endurance biographies
mad bad and dangerous to know by sir ranulph fiennes is class!

I mainly read music biographies. Just finished Shaun Ryders one was a very enjoyable read if you're into the music and want to read what depths a smackhead can sink to.

Hobbit, LOTR's, or if you want some Sci Fi, the Sci-fi master works are work a look.
There are about a 100 books but the website gives you a few paragraphs on each. "I am Legend", "Flowers for Algernon", "The forever war", "Gateway", and "The moon is a harsh mistress" are all fantastic reads.

If you want something light, try "The lost world" or "King Solomon's mines".

I'm reading American Pastoral at the moment by Philip Roth, I read a fair bit, always have something on the go. I like Orwell, Steinbeck,Charles Frazier, Marquez Anything good! :D

If Sci Fi is your think Asimov and Bradbury are a couple of obvious ones but Stephen Baxter is also really good, plenty of mind bending ideas.
