Just wondering on peoples opinions on getting a vintage carded figure autographed, yes 
or no :evil: is this a terrible thing to do :?

Good question.
Id say its fine.
The toys will out live us and the actors.
Maybe its best to do it with modern stuff.

I think it devalues most vintage items, but I did win an autographed Kenny Baker trilogo R2 In a raffle and it's a cool piece. But I would never ruin a vintage MOC by adding an actor's signature.
No no no, I think autographs are very tacky on Vintage MOC if done directly on the card plus it ruins a perfectly good MOC figure that someone not into autographs might want.
Two ways around it:
Get a nice cardback signed.
Get the acrylic case you display the MOC in signed.
Another reason I hate pretty much all SW autographs on Vintage MOC is because almost all the most prominent signers signatures are about as common as hmm...well dog ****!
If you could somehow fly back in time and get the master Alec Guinness to sign a 12 back Ben it might be a bit more of an eye catching and interesting piece but getting Dave Prowse to sign your GDE 12back (guy called Ian on RS did this and I along with others think it was a terrible decision) is just like signing it yourself, its worthless and devalues the piece!

Like prowse is a masked actor who signs alot, but what if it was a Harrison Ford autograph on a han card or a George Lucas autograph?

Any decent vintage piece would be devalued, regardless of who the autograph was from. Some of the more common signers will even check with you to make sure as they know a bit about vintage.
I have a signed Wicket cardback and a MOC Trilogo R2-D2 that cost 30 odd quid that I got done when Kenny had a health scare a few years back.

Agree...it ruins the value. I once seen a guy at a show get Billy Dee to sign a vader 12 back....................thought to myself....what a ****ing moron.

I totally agree. The vast majority of signed cards lose there value. Occasionally there are freak auctions. I remember selling a tri logo Vader on.ebay for way over the odds and then after the auction I was offered 150 pounds for it. I couldnt believe it to be honest.
That was a pretty freak occurence though in my opinion and 99 out of 100 will probably sell below average card value. I expect the actors would be mortified!

Yeah Thanks for that. I'm going to Invasion Dublin Convention in May and they have annouced that Billy Dee Williams will be there, after all the advice, I'm going to pick up a nice condition ESB Lando card to get signed... 8)
I have also kept a POTF2 Boba Fett MOC from my modern figures for that exact reason to get signed by Jeremy Bulloch as well.
