Hey Guys, just received a long awaited item for my Kenner run. An R2-D2 Sensorscope on an Offerless card. This is a pretty difficult figure to find on an offerless Kenner card so I was stoked about getting hold of one.
I opened the star case only to see that the figure had rattled so much in transit that it has cracked the bubble.

Needless to say Im gutted!

To add insult to injury I had the value marked down to prevent being hit by customs. I can only claim $15 back. That'll teach me. :|

Na mate. Came from the US and I got him to mark the value down to avoid customs fees.

:( :( :( :( :(

That poor 4 lom. That's a shame. I know your pain Kevin.

I don't know if I should say something about the packing. I actually think it was packed pretty well. Even styrofoam peanuts in the star case would not have prevented this in my opinion as they can't stop the figure from moving around in the bubble. The bubble seemed very thin too which hasn't helped coupled with the dent that was already in that top corner.

Undoubtedly a sad day for me . I'll keep him until I find another.

I payer under the odds for him in my opinion so that is one saving grace I suppose.

Sorry to see that, I had a tri logo Luke X-wing come off the card in the post once. It's very annoying!!

I think star cases are bad news in the post, a bubble wrapped figure in shredded paper is the way to go IMO. Some rattling in transit is ineviatable and at least that way the whole thing can move if it needs to.

Yeah you may be right Edd. Ive not really tried that method. I may do that in the future. Having said that Ive never had a bad experience like this with posting in star cases before but like they say, there's always a first!

Just gutted it was this figure. :|

Nuts :(

That's not good Chris

I haven't had anything bust through yet *thank god and crosses fingers* but I would be gutted if it did.

Sometimes you just can't help it, regardless of how you pack it- there is no foolproof way, only prevention measures but if its lobbed from one side of the depot to another or the van its in brakes suddenly and the figure has room to rattle itll hit that 30 year old plastic and do the damage in a second.

Hidden faults like dents and weaker seals or yellow bubbles are just something you can't bet on in the post :(

As I have stated in the past, The colder temperature in the winter cause the old bubble to become more rigid and brittle. This is why you should avoid buying carded figures in the colder months.

Personally, if I was buying a rare/expensive item (relatively speaking) I always ask the seller to fully insure, even if that means I'll probably get stung with customs fees.
It's a pain, but I'd rather pay that and have the insurance as fall back in case soemthing like this happens.
Still a sickener mind.

Good advice Todd I've never thought of that before.

Oh ,and Chris sorry to hear that mate,it's a right bummer!

Cheers guys. I will definitely bear that in mind weasel. Luckily I got it for relatively cheap considering but its still a ball ache. Fully insured may be the way forward.
