My wee brother got me seven SW books for xmas

Death trooper by joe schreiber,
Revelation by karen traviss,
Patterns of the force, (coruscant nights 3) by michael reaves,
Traitor by matthew woodring stover,
Dark tide one onslaught, michael a stackpole,
The swarm war (dark nest three) by troy denning,
Dark journey by elaine cunningham.

He's literally just bought seven random books and from reading the guff on the back i suspect a few are the second or third parts of various stories.

Anyone read any of them or know anything about any of them?

The first one sounds pretty decent and i think it's stand alone, so i'll prob start with it. The others worth reading or do i need to have read various prequels (shudder)?

Any thoughts or suggestions welcome.

Hi mate

Always find it helps to have a time line reference
Just so you can read books in order

Traitor is part of the new Jedi order run, there are plenty of them  about 19 starting with Vector Prime
I enjoyed the NJO books have them all

You can pick them up on Amazon pretty cheap ......once you start 8) no stopping

Death Troopers is a SW Horror novel crossover. Quite a good read. There are two other books by him, 1 a prequel the other a Darth Maul story.
Crosuscant nights I am not a fan of. The time period isn't really of interest to me. 3 or 4 of those books are from the NJO arc but you'll be hopelessly lost unless you read Vector Prime first.

having had a look at the list of books in that link Michael stuck up, I suspect you're right. I'll probably just end up reading Death Troopers and that'll be it. Can't see me having the time, patience or interest, to sit and read all the others.

Depends on how much you read, I read of an evening...bed time.

Swerved SW books for years until my lad told me to read Heir to the Empire, once I did that, I go right into it...set after ROTJ, so characters you are familiar with.

The Darth Bane trilogy is a great read also, and can be read stand alone, again it's what you like really, but I was very surprised how addicted I became to SW books, great reading IMO

Death troopers is awesome and a very quick read... The others I would hold off on as the buy in cost of knowledge for them is quite a bit! That said with the new jedi order you can just read the hardcovers and get the general idea of what is happening...

I have a mountain of books as it is, literally a mountain, that I can't find time to read. Given a lot of the ones my bro bought me seem to be mid-story arc I doubt I'll get round to reading the background stuff before I can get on to them. Who knows, if death troopers is any good I may try a few others.
