any tips on lighting for photo's

i have to use a K750i with a smashed LCD screen. i have to rely on sunlight from my window or they come out crap

thats with no flash - just sat in a sunbeam in living room

I usually take photos with a window directly behind me to get natural light.

buy a light tent

if you decide to use natural window light, put something in between the window and the item your taking - a net curtain or a thin white material.
Natural light, especially sunlight can glare of the item your taking pics of - so you may need to "dull" the light down abit.
