Considering condition, it'll be interesting to see what these go for.

Must be a couple of grand reserve by the looks of it. Nice looking set but I'm not keen on reseals myself.

I did think about a set of the 30's at one time but its a costly business and the chances of getting a Fett, WBG and a couple of others seem pretty limited.

I would be shocked if that met the reserve. or even close

I would reckon a complete set of ESB characters on Debut Cards would go well over 10k as he says.

Fett is the hardest one to judge, as there have been so few sales of one to be able to judge. Last estimate I heard was £5k!!!! :shock:

Well, essentially they are cardbacks and loose figures.

However, their displayability is greater which may add to the overall value.

I really can't hazard a guess. I keep trying to work it out, based on the value of a loose figure and cardbacks with bubbles.


Here's an interesting question though.

Which would you prefer if you had to choose?

a) Cardback with sealed bubble but top removed

b) Cardback with intact bubble, but fully resealed


I'm inclined to go for b.

b would probably look better in my opinion.

Thinking about it, I would have a reseal or opened example of a really rare figure if the chances of an MOC were virtually non-existent.

I'd go for b) as well as they generally display better and are less obviously opened. A couple of those cardbacks were originally mine. Personally I think reseals are worth little more than the sum of the parts so I'd pay little more than the value of nice condition cardbacks plus the figures.

I hadn't read the description, so I didn't realise so many were reseals or had opened bubbles.

I think I'd go probably go for (b) as well, assuming there is no chance of getting an intact MOC.

There is basically a reserve of £2000 minimum on the item as he says a moc collection would be worth over 10k and his reserve is a fith of that. I honestly cant see how 30 resealed figures could be worth 2 grand!!!!
I have loads of old cardbacks in my dads loft from when i was a kid. (As a 29 year old collector of 5 years i only collect moc)
All i would have to do is buy 30 loose figures which wont cost anywhere near 2 grand then attached them to the cardbacks. The value of this set imo is approx £300 that is based on the cost of the figures loose and the cost of the used cardbacks. Im basing this on recent ebay prices if you take the fact that they have been put together already the seller may get £400 £500 tops. Just my opinion.

A recarded figure is not worth much more if anything that a loose figure and really can't be compared to moc's. Many a time on ebay ive seen figures sold with a used backing card go for less that a complete loose figure. Recently one of my collector firends from newcastle stop selling his figures with the cardbacks and found selling them loose and complete was more profitable and just sold off the cards seperately.

3 of the 45A's are MOC and there a 48 back Kenner with palitoy Sticker MOC too. Those will add to the estimates.

So much depends on what the cardback is. And I think having the bubble, or at least most of it still attached adds to the value. If these all have the original footplate card as well, that adds even more.

I don't think these should be considered the same as used cardbacks. Their displayability is different. Displayed correctly they will look almost as good as a sealed set. i've seen similar conditioned ones up close and they do display well.

If it were reseals of ones I wanted, but knew I could probably never get MOC I'd pay a lot for them, even into the thousands!!!

And as DWD correctly says, certain figures are virtually impossible to find sealed. And in many cases collectors have to settle for a reseal.

I have seen some of the rarer resealed 30 backs go for over £100 each. It is also a cheaper alternative for someone who wants them to display but maybe can't afford the going rate.

Aren't worth a great deal as all are pretty common, but as Jason says, will add to the value.

Not sure about the Zuckuss. I have one of those for Which I think I paid about £75 but that was years ago.


I've been trying to work out what a fully sealed set would go for, but prices have been all over the place in recent years so hard to say.

Assuming all the loose figures are in great condition, what would they alone be worth?

Jason is probably in the best position to say what plain cardbacks alone would be worth.

Where this auction ends is anyone's guess.

I still don't believe it will sell for the reserve, or anywhere near.

The reason I highlighted it is I have a good friend who collects reseals as they can afford moc and he put the first 12 together relatively cheaply and has also completed some other runs and agrees that this set is not worth anywhere near £2000 imo £500 would be the maximum.

I don’t doubt they look good on display I just feel the estimate is way over the top and the set in that type of condition could be put together for a lot cheaper with some patience.

However I may be wrong it is a very well presented listing and the seller is very honest about what he is selling so I wish them good luck!

Thinking about this, he's made a real mistake listing the reserve price.

I reckon that'll put a lot of people off bidding as they know what they need to bid but won't be prepared to bid that amount, so won't bother, trying.

With reserves, people often bid in the hope that they might meet the reserve.
