**** Ugrades!

Another useless contribution, nice effort.

I've got no reason to lie about where my figures come from, nothing to prove to anyone.

The fact is people collect graded figures and some people only collect U grades,
Some prefer loose some prefer MOC. Some collect beaters and don't care too much about the condition. Everyone has different focus's.

The point I'm trying to make is why do people get made to feel guilty about what they collect. It's up to us what we collect if we all had the same tastes wouldn't it make the whole thing boring?.

Not here to fuel the fire, but I suggest Macman and Scott have a read here about how U grades are harmful to the hobby: http://powerofthetoys.com/afa/

And secondly, I thought the mods said all U-grade discussions were to be contained to this thread: http://www.starwarsforum.co.uk/viewtopic.php?f=5&t=5373

Ok now this is coming from a dad on this forum here, and tbh i don`t give two ****s if i had my account taken down, but Grant after your last comment about ****ing kids, your just some worthless piece of **** that i would gladly paste all over the floor, your just some clever ****ing turd, now go take a bath.

I understand that Tundra mate, but the whole point is how that idiot in the first place approached this topic, there are ways and means how too get things across, it seems now after his childish post about kids its like talking too some idiot.

I think U grade has its place in the hobby, I myself have had a figure U graded (you know thta Scott as you just bought it) & I have even has a sealed multi-pack graded as it was a sealed pack & the U designation indicates that the baggies (still sealed BTW) came from that pack & are the correct baggies for it ETC, I think when packaging is trashed to the point of it no longer being a pleasure to the eye can & sometimes even should be graded to, but the packaging should be beyond saving IMO, that's just my stance on it & TBH I would not U grade a figure just as I thought it may attain a high grade with a U designation, but this IMO is not what the problem is on this thread, its the fact its someone making a HUGE profit on high end U grades & "possibly" making it a future business/earner ETC, its the guys like Robbie that tar the brush & lead others in to doing things that will only IMO degrade the hobby.

If Andy is "only" shifting some U grades on that he bought to sell from his brother in law as a one off, I can see it not being to bad a thing, as the guy is helping his family out & at the same time putting a few quid in his own pocket, but & IMHO this is the crux of the matter - he is buying & selling U grade figures (has stated so in this thread) & that is what is bringing the bad blood to the thread, as this forum is not about making a profit out of you fellow forum members, sure we all buy & sell to help fund our collections, but there is a line & I personally feel that that line has been crossed by what Andy is doing here, you only need to look at the prices the figures on ebay are listed at & if you are honest Scott would you be willing to part with several hundred pounds for a fairly common figure just because it states U90 on it & is entombed in Acrylic?.

I don't think that Ugraded items should be banned from sale on the forum, but it's a why did it get the Ugrade that is IMO the detail that need consideration.

Not sure this is going anywhere good

There is not a lot of love for Ugrades on here and it is a touchy subject. Threats and namecalling aren't going to do anything positive for this thread or this forum

Perhaps this one should be closed down ?

On a serious note. We are just talking about old toys. In the scheme of life's realitys, it should not come to fist blows over things that, in the end, will not matter. So if we are now going to start calling each other faggots and child molesters...I think it all should be taken to PM or the back alley of a dirty pub. This was my attempt at being a voice of reason.

Frank - in reply to your message, I can see what you are saying, however what I think should happen is that anything graded that comes out of a beaten package should not be labelled specifically as a 'U' - just be graded on its condition.

It is the actual 'U' that caused all of the problems - get rid of that and there will be no encouragement to break items out of perfectly good packaging

When you watch this (0.22), you can see that the figures were not really handled well before placed in their packages - so I don't see what the 'U' grade does !

Agreed. I think people's points were made in their first posts. No need to beat it to death and start tearing each other to pieces. Threads like this always spiral out of control when people don't know when to stop typing.

Not to stir it anymore, but Frank hit it on the head. That is exactly what my issue was with or without the play on words like I am some sort of numsey. If this is what you deal in for profits..then just say it. You would still catch ****...but at least you would not insult some peoples intelligence.

Nice little vid there Iain, thanks for sharing.

& I totally get what you are saying, but for me the U grade is a way of asserting authenticity with multi-packs & items containing baggies that were sealed & is a way to confirm the correct corresponding items, as not all is known about baggies as with 99% of MOC/play sets & vehicles etc - but generally speaking the U grade is not doing much for the hobby, but it does IMO have its place, its just a shame that use has been turned on it head for the sake of huge profiteering.

There a lot of multipacks/mailers/popys/play sets & such that are being sold as complete, but many of them have been thrown together when folk buy a pack & put together any baggies & call it complete & legitimate when its nothing of the sort.

Maybe I am to anal about matching the correct baggies with the correct packaging, but that's just me & my little niche/focus.

**** me lads, this is a bit strong!!

End the day we all have our opinions, our likes dislikes etc. Its what makes the world go round blah, blah, blah! that's why i love this forum because we can discuss issues and have a bit of banter, a bit like a footy match really. You call the ref a wanker , the other team and fans every name under the sun(it's called passion) and then after the 90 mins we go home and forget about it.

My opinion, u grades suck, but thats my opinion and you can't judge how bad or good a person is over how he/she collects toys. so we really should'nt get personel.

Lets agree to disagree.

SHARE THE LOVE!!!! :D

The reason i opened the shop is because unfortunately i can't get life insurance due to having incurable cancer. I decided to invest in star wars through my brother in law, thats when i caught the bug. I do have my own personal collection but trade a lot too, so that if anything happened to me my partner can sell all of it off and use the funds for future as i have a little girl and a boy due in 2 weeks time. I'm not profiting on the forum at all. In fact ive spent nearly 2k buying from here. I have never had a figure U graded nor plan too. The reason for the link is because of the loose graded i recently had done, the figures were all bought from the forum. I thought it would be nice for people to have the opportunity to get a big discount on them. Would have been nice to have them owned by you guys. Hope this answers some questions.
