I collect loose so this doesnt really affect me but at some point the cardbacks will start deteriating and the plastic bubbles will yellow and crack and subsequently values will go down, people will panic and everyone will 'sell, sell, sell!' so at what point do the MOC collectors say 'the value is going to drop and people are going arn't going to pay what I paid for it'?

Has MOC collecting got a limited shelf life?

...or is it all about the joy of ownership, the long term value isn't an issue...

also when the bubbles do yellow and crack there will be loads of mint loose figs about making the loose figs easyer to get and the price will drop on them

Most of the Palitoy cards don't suffer too badly from yellowed bubbles and if kept correctly they should keep their seal for the foreseeable future. Looking at my 12 backs I think well they have been around for 30 years and most still look the same as the day they left the factory.

If looked after most will last a lot longer, its the poorer quality bubbles (POTF and Kenner ROTJ for example) that are yellowing badly but I think they have done that almost from day one. There doesn't appear to be a huge problem with bubbles lifting.

If there is a future problem then it will be very gradual and the remaining cards in good nick will go up in value in my opinion. But like you say, its not all about the money

Some bubbles will fall off a lot will yellow and crack. They have lasted this long. I do see why not they wont last another 20-30 if not longer

Mostly POTF and Jedi cards have suffering bubbles. Yellowing and cracks. If handled with care I think the figures will keep, but the bubles will be more and more brittle and yellow. Plus the more figure are sold, shipped back and forth they will slowly get more and more damaged.

Here is a bubble comming away from the card. This got sent to AFA when i got there the bubble had come off. On the way back his head burst the bubble
