What's the age range of vintage collectors?

There was a strange little shop in my home town, it sold flowers and greetings cards and in 1988 was selling a bunch of Trilogo figures. I remember the year because I had just started a new job, and walked past this shop everyday. Those figures were there a long time, and still there in July '89...

    Vectis latest

As others have said, pretty reasonable prices this time. Was surprised the 20 back Snaggletooth went for £800 though. Death Stars are slowly dropping in price as well, I've lost track how many are left.

    Latest Acquisitions

Very nice 20 backs, Greedo in particular is a stunner. Congrats!

    High end ?

Nice definition Steve. Some random examples I would class as 'High end' are: carded DT Luke, Ben or Vader, carded Vlix and first shots of the first 12 figures. Basically anything that is extremely rare and expensive.

Is the Star Wars poster sexist?

Well, it was the Seventies Craig. Sexism was no big deal back then, it was the norm to depict females in that way - there are other depictions of Leia with enormous breasts. Was it sexist to dress Leia in the infamous slave outfit in Jedi? I think the Hilderbrant poster is sexist, not least the...

    That 'buzz' you get...

Yep, happened to me last week. Been after a Trilogo/hybrid Greedo for ages, there's one that has been listed for a while at the bargain price of £695 - no thanks - then one popped up auction style, 99p start. Got the exact adrenaline rush you describe, coupled with the annoying seven day wait...

Why do you collect SW ?

Nothing new to add here, firstly my love for the original films and nostalgia.

Valuation of Palitoy 12B C-3PO & Sand People

So, are you asking if these are fake? They look ok to me, although the seals on the Threepios look a bit suspect, but there are legitimate seals that look like that. The fact that you paid £80 for 4 Palitoy 12 backs makes me believe something is off, but again I see no real red flags. If these...

    Sick ****

It's comforting to picture this prick in hiding, fearing for his life. I bet that **** eating grin has been wiped from his face.....

    Sick ****

****ing asshole. The only good thing about this is that his life is now ruined. Remember a few years ago when that woman was caught on CCTV throwing a cat in a wheelie bin? She got so much abuse she had to change her name and move house, and that cat was unhurt, if not a little upset. This...

What's your favourite run of figures?

It's wave 2 for me also. They are all so weird and colourful, compared to the first 12. I'm convinced someone at Kenner said "we need more colour in this line" and the designers went a little crazy - Walrusman being the prime culprit, Orange, Blue and Green in an outfit that resembles nothing...

    "Uncracked Limbs"

I had the same problem when I first got C-3PO, couldn't move his limbs so I assumed that they were fixed, and he stayed that way for several days. Then I saw a kid at school playing with his Threepio, and realized what had to be done. Once I'd cracked them, those limbs went floppy fast...

    Vintage model kits

I was in Scarborough in 2013, found a tiny model/train shop that had piles of MPC Star Destroyers, Snowspeeders and AT-ATs for sale. Star Destroyers were £19.99, didn't see the prices on the others. So yeah, they're still around if you know where to look. My local Toys r us was still selling the...

Oh Vectis why do you do it to me...

Pretty much the same story here, I was going to email Vectis today to enquire about the status of my 25/6 auction win, but won't bother now. I received my item from the 27/5 auction in 8 days, I was expecting a 2 week wait at the very least. Nothing we can do about it I guess, but Vectis clearly...

What would you choose, if you had to?

Since this has turned into a Desert Island survival guide using only vintage Star Wars toys, I'd take a removable limbs C-3PO. You can use the plastic cargo net to catch (extremely small) fish, while his limbs would make great, shiny lures for larger fish.

    Bloody hell it's hot!

I love this country. A day and a half of hot weather, and train tracks are allegedly buckling in the heat. A few hours of snow and the transport system grinds to a halt. When did we become such pusssies over the weather?

    Vectis 25-6-2015

Congrats on getting that bubble bath lot, was going to bid also but went for something else instead. I just love the art on that bubble bath display, so Star Wars and retro. Does bubble bath go 'off' after 37 years I wonder? Not that you're going to be using it of course.

    Playground Urban Myths

One kid at our school always maintained he had a radio controlled Sandcrawler, we all scoffed at this of course, and he wouldn't bring it to school to show us because his Dad wouldn't let him. With hindsight, it was probably true - somehow he had got hold of the Kenner toy, but he always told us...

    1/6th Scale Star Wars

Nice collection you have there, Probe Droid looks fantastic. Here's a couple that I picked up recently, Bandai's die cast metal 1/6 C-3PO and Sideshow's R2-D2 (these are THE best 1/6 scale versions of the droids out there, imo). Also I just got the Hot Toys Stormtrooper twin pack, again the...

    RIP Christopher Lee

Didn't know he had died until I read this, very sad. The last of the horror greats. R.I.P.
