    Latest Acquisitions

Pleased to finally get the Rebel Command Center this weekend from a friend and fellow collector! I wasn't a fan of the card playsets growing up but really like them these days...there's a definite charm in the simple detail. My friend was also kind enough to pack it with some white polystyrene...

where to start, after selling collection 15 years ago

Welcome back to collecting Veers77! If you're looking to collect loose, I highly recommend local car boot/jumble sales. Vintage Star Wars is harder to find for bargain prices these days but there are still some great bits out there! Toy fairs are good too but you will inevitably pay more at...

    Silver C-3PO

I have two of this figure loose. One is very Gold, the other pretty much all silver. I've always assumed the silver one had faded with time and play, but looking at some carded ones, some seem a lot more gold than others so could be a variant. Does anyone out there have a focus on this figure...

    Random Part ID

Thanks all! Stubbs/Savory100, I think you're onto something with the Zoids thing. I've never looked at this line before, they're pretty cool! All the hero figures seem to have blue plastic bits! I shall look through some pics and try to find the part! :)

    Random Part ID

Hey all! This has been in my box of odds and ends for ages and I cannot for the life of me figure out what toy line it's from, except to say it's definitely not vintage Star Wars!! Seems a little big for a 3 3/4" figure unless it's a deluxe backpack of some description...it does have two...

    Star Wars to Action Force

Star Wars was always my favourite, but Action Force were always knocking around. I think the greatest strength of the early 5POA figures was that they were generic. A lot of the films I loved as a kid either didn't have toy lines or I didn't know they existed (My first Indiana Jones figure was...

Were you a "one toy line" kid?

My toys were mainly hand-me-downs from my brothers, mostly Star Wars and a few Action Force. The first toys I remember seeing in shops and getting new on card were Batman (1989 Movie and Batman Returns). I absolutely loved the early Batman TAS figures as well, plus random Movie figures from...

My bible for many years, and still a good friend...

I'm not really a boxed collector, so not sure how good the prices for carded were in hindsight, but the loose prices were about right for 2005, if still a little steep! You definitely can't get Shuttles for £190 loose complete anymore, let alone a Skiff for £310! I'd love to know what the...

My bible for many years, and still a good friend...

That's a lovely book! I remember one of my school friends having Amanaman and I absolutely hated it, also not realising it was Vintage SW. Then I got my first collecting book and was really annoyed to see it actually was a vintage figure, even more so as I then had to beg my friend to sell me...

    Saggy Bottoms

I've got a couple of larger boxes that were in the same condition! I just made some solid inserts from old cardboard and some gaffer tape. Not very pretty but you don't see it when the boxes are displayed and keeps them in shape! :)

My bible for many years, and still a good friend...

Great find! I remember this book! Heaven only knows where my copy fetched up. I remember some of the back stories in this were really cool, before the dark times... :)

MTV-7 and other mini rig COO's/markings?

I'd genuinely never noticed they didn't have them, great spot! Maybe because of size and detailing they couldn't add them on, or they need a certain area of flat plastic to indent the mark? Always guessed they did it with a small hot press tool of some kind? 50p is an awesome price, it's the...

MTV-7 and other mini rig COO's/markings?

The two MTV-7s I have here have no markings at all, and neither do the PDT-8 or the INT-4. My MLC-3 has full markings on the underneath though. For Jedi rigs, only the little skiff seems to have one...

    Reproduction Weapons

Never thought it was! :) I've been a solitary collector for a long time, so keen to chat stuff which is probably routine for a lot of members. Weird knowing where to start with so many posts and so much knowledge/experience! Always learning! :D Good hunting!

    Reproduction Weapons

I think if you read back over my posts, you'll find I share your thoughts on repro exactly. I can't stand it on any level. I'm not defending it on any level either, just debating its role, however unwanted, in modern collecting. I don't know you personally either, does that stop us being able...

    Reproduction Weapons

I'm not really clear, for whom should these alarm bells be ringing exactly? We're simply having a discussion about the place of repro in modern collecting. I'm well aware of the opinions of the many on this forum...I share them...it's why I've joined :)

    Reproduction Weapons

I can only speak for myself here, but I don't look down on people who buy repro. I resent the fact that their eagerness to collect destroys something I've loved for a long time. If you truly love collecting these old toys, there shouldn't be a time frame. There are always going to be new...

    Reproduction Weapons

I am indeed arguing this in the specific case of vintage Star Wars. I agree that in other cases, complete could be more open... I think your last point is really interesting. Anyone should be welcome to collect, on any budget. For those starting out, or not able to purchase originals, would...
