How Many Figures Were Made ?

Is there a database anywhere of how many figures were produced ? Was it in the millions or just the hundreds of thousands ?

Sandown Toy Fair - Saturday 2nd March 2019

I went for a bit , seems like most of the stuff is overpriced , one stall had a lot of boxed items I need which is a shame as it was just too pricey, didn’t look like he was selling any of it either, people moan about eBay but at least you can pick things up at decent prices sometimes, was good...

The future of Vintage Star Wars collecting

I think if they keep making films and spinoffs the original stuff will only rise in value, look at comic books, the early Superman and Batman comics from the 1930's go for hundreds of thousands, sometimes millions.

Vehicle parts needed, weapons + loose figures too.

I've got this for sale for the Y-Wing https://www.ebay.co.uk/itm/202599199815?ssPageName=STRK:MESELX:IT&_trksid=p3984.m1555.l2649

    New retroline.......

Reminds me of 1999 when everyone was buying up Phantom Menace MOC's thinking they will be worth something one day.

    New retroline.......

But when they start making the last 17 figures then the Hasbro ones will be the legitimate option for the Joe Public collectors. R2-D2 Pop Up - £300 for an original or £10 for a Hasbro.

    New retroline.......

I don't really think it's the figures that will cause problems, it will be the weapons and capes.

    New retroline.......

Personally I think it will be the opposite and original vintage items will just increase in value. Take Ferrari or any prestige car maker for example, they keep bringing out new ones and the cars from the 60's and 70's just keep increasing in value, that may be a bad example but i'm sure you...

    New retroline.......

......But they will still be used by people to trick others into buying them believing they are the real thing, not much difference really. Fair enough though if they are date stamped 2018/2019 I don't see a problem there.

    New retroline.......

I’m just glad I completed my loose run years ago, wouldn’t like to be starting out now with all the repro about . I think they’ve missed a trick here because of lot of collectors would have really got into figures that weren’t released originally , eg... Y Wing Pilot Tarkin Han Stormtrooper...

    New retroline.......

But I thought those 4 pack ones from 1995 had 1977 stamped on them ? Let’s just hope the weapons are a tiny bit different so people can tell the difference . Can you imagine if they re-release black palace blasters or pop up lightsabers that are identical.

    New retroline.......

I assume the date stamp on them will say 2019 ? Hopefully What about the weapons ? If they are identical to the old ones that’s going to be another lot of repro flooding the market.

Guidance Advised: 2,387 Vintage Figures Melted

My guessing is to get a reaction like he is getting , bit like the guy who was opening MOC’s on camera a few years back.

Guidance Advised: 2,387 Vintage Figures Melted

I’m guessing he must be pretty wealthy , probably a lot of beaters in there but also some more expensive £15-£20 figures so say an average of £4 per figure that’s £9.5k he’s destroyed.

New collector, first event - Farthest From?

The Sandown toy fair is pretty good but don't expect bargains, mostly dealers but it's good to actually inspect the item before buying as opposed to Ebay.

Perception Of Repros In Different Hobbies

With a classic car I much prefer a car that is a little bit more “worn in” and original over a car that’s been restored with all new parts, you can’t replicate that old car smell and feel.

Perception Of Repros In Different Hobbies

I was thinking the other day that in some hobbies repros are looked on differently and not in such a bad light ,has anyone noticed this ? For example one of my other hobbies is classic American cars and sometimes there is not much option but to go for a reproduction item , eg a bit of interior...
