Share your childhood vintage toy repairs

I remember my Luke Bespin being softer plastic than the other figures which resulted in one of his legs breaking off. As an 8 year old the only repair I could come up with was blu-tack... which was crap!

    R2 identification

No problem :) As a kid I had the R2 with the death star plans and another kid I knew had the talking R2. It's much nicer looking than the RC version IMO, and even though I haven't seen one for about 40 years I can still remember what the talking R2 sounded like!

It's 'Read Five Designs'. Their facebook page is: https://www.facebook.com/ReadFiveDesigns/ and their website is: www.readfive.co.uk/our-book though I can't check the website as my work's firewall won't let me on it!

    Tie Fighter battery disaster

Lemon juice works exactly the same way. We were clearing out our old board games the other week and our 'Operation' had exactly the same problem. After a few minutes of applying lemon juice with a cotton bud it was working again nicely.

    Feedback for Scott (quins)

Scott bought a die cast TIE Fighter MOC from me. Great transaction from start to finish - great communication, fast payment and calm attitude made this really easy. Thanks Scott!

What are the 5 favourite items in your collection?

These probably change regularly, but as of now and in no particular order: R2D2 12" boxed - had one as a kid and loved it. It's a great likeness, is fun to play with and the box artwork/design is really cool too. First 12 display stand - this is popping up regularly in this thread but it's...

 I've got to admit as cool as those 12" figures were I don't remember playing with them that much.

    Vintage Photos

I've posted this a few times on here so apologies to those who've already seen it. My Dad dug out this picture when he heard I was collecting again, and seeing it brought back so many memories... not least that the canopies on my snowspeeder and twin-pod broke really easily!! Those plastic tabs...

    Resealing a 12-Back Palitoy Jawa

That looks great, and it's brilliant to see thought, effort and patience going into the process... and the rewards for it are obvious! This past week I've watched films which didn't have me as gripped as that write-up!

What's the one vintage SW item you wished you had as a kid but never got?

  It was always on my list of purchases as a collector but I didn't get mine till around 2015! It's a fantastic vehicle which really doesn't take up much space at all. Even cleaning it up and getting the electronics working was a joy.

What's the one vintage SW item you wished you had as a kid but never got?

Strange isn't it. We had two (one from the 'Land of the Jawas' set) which were purchased in West Yorkshire, but this would've been around 1979/80/81.
