SWTOTW, Week 8, 2018, Part 1/2 Chief Chirpa

Pointed Staff, but what's the difference between the hoods?

My philosophy on these figures is to reassemble without modification, gluing or additional parts. There's something about knowing that all the bits were from the same original set.

SWTOTW, Week 8, 2018, Part 1/2 Chief Chirpa

Thanks. I always liked it that he was blacked out on this card back; it gave the ewok figures a bit of mystique. I regret cutting out this name plate though. Also, the staff was originally taped to the bubble but the tape has now yellowed and is not reusable.

SWTOTW, Week 8, 2018, Part 1/2 Chief Chirpa

My childhood Chief Chirpa (and a pencil topper). I have attempted a restore with it's original staff, card and bubble, and the help of a toploader.

Send away offer paperwork Palitoy/Kenner Parker 1984/85

Is your black and white letter identical to the one I have? Mine does seem fairly generic but I figured the token may need to vary in value. Would be interested to get a glimpse - any pics?

Send away offer paperwork Palitoy/Kenner Parker 1984/85

Totally agree. I would really like my original card backs to have their name plates back. I got the emperor and nien nunb for my troubles, but would probably have got them in any case.

    Ewok tri-logo tape on bubble?!

Did you get yours from a shop opposite Bejam in Letchworth by any chance?

    Ewok tri-logo tape on bubble?!

So where does that leave me? Not sure how this tape arrived in two of my childhood cardbacked bubbles, the authenticity of which will now be held in doubt. I'm still 100% that these are the condition I opened them in 1980s so either I landed two specials, or they are very early reseals (not by...

    Ewok tri-logo tape on bubble?!

Thanks for the welcome and I'm really enjoying the forum and shared knowledge. I absolutely understand where you are coming from with regards my opened figures. I can only say again that I have no doubt the tape is original and on the side shown. Both bubbles are still attached at the top and...

Send away offer paperwork Palitoy/Kenner Parker 1984/85

To be honest I just never threw much away. I guess I kept the second letter with the first in the hope I would get to use the tokens at some stage. It all went flat in the bottom of a vehicle box, forgotten about and uncovered 30 years later!

Send away offer paperwork Palitoy/Kenner Parker 1984/85

I thought I'd share some paperwork that I have that shows a bit of history for Palitoy and Kenner Parker in the UK, 1984 -1985. There were various send-away offers at the time (1984) and you can see that I cut out three names from cardbacks and sent off £2.99 for a Hoth Wampa. Disappointingly...

    SWTOTW, Week 5, 2018, Part 1/2 Amanaman

Thanks! I kept cardbacks and bubbles from day 1 (early 80s) for all the figures that I bought new or were given to me. Unfortunately I have misplaced a few bubbles. At first I took the bubbles right off, but later, especially with the Trilogos I found I could tease the bubble open to get the...

    SWTOTW, Week 5, 2018, Part 1/2 Amanaman

I was careful - my first figure was chewed by the dog and I remember being so upset I took great care of all the rest. I'm slowly archiving/photographing my collection and will hopefully get to share a few favourites when they come up on Toy of the Week!

    How were figures painted?

This Han in Trench Coat (ROTJ 77 back) could have been done a bit better. Not sure about the freckles!
